ChartSnipe: OK, own up. Anyone fail to see this coming? Anyone? And does the fact that the X-Factor got the Christmas No.1 again fundamentally change anyone's opinion of Leon's talents? Even if your friend has the exact opposite opinion and is claiming that a chart position is somehow proof that they are right and you are wrong? I thought as much. (FM)

2 - Eva Cassidy & Katie Melua - 'What A Wonderful World'
ChartSnipe: No offense to Leona Lewis, or to anyone who shelled out on 'Bleeding Love' and therefore kept it at the top spot for ever and ever, but wasn't it lovely to have a bit of variety at the top there? You could even go so far as to say it's apt that the song which ended a brutal reign of chart terror just WOULD be called 'What A Wonderful World', right? Oh, just me then... (FM)

ChartSnipe: OK, now I've got over the thrill of being able to find something else to write about this song, the big question which is still hanging over it is whether 'Bleeding Love' is the best selling single of 2007 or not. 4 - The Pogues ft. Kirsty MacColl - 'Fairytale of New York'
ChartSnipe: It's been a rum week for this song. And the media-storm following Radio 1's decision to edit the lyrics (and then un-edit them back again) seems to have been more about broadcasters proving themselves to be hard by playing the offending section in full on the evening news, or writing out the words without any asterisks in the paper, which is hardly helpful, seeing as it's kind of provocative to the people who found it offensive in the first place, right? Oh, and before you snort with derision one last time, , if only so you can be truly sure of what you think. (FM)

5 - Soulja Boy Tellem - 'Crank That (Soulja Boy)'
ChartSnipe: I'm sure there's a perfectly logical reason why Soulja Boy has chosen to add that 'Tellem' gubbins to his name there. I'm sure it can't be as daft as him trying to claim people are ordering him to spread the truth about his funny dance routine, and that he hears those words so often he might as well be called them. There's overconfidence and then there's just rank showing off... (FM)

i see cliff richard is back at the top of the christmas charts!!! oh sorry the song just sounds as if could have been recorded by sir cliff. i've nothing against the talent that leon has but the song doesn't even suit leons voice and i'm miffed why people have bought this pile of poo.it's a poor cover of a poor song. he might aswell of released a nursery rhyme and it still would have made number one, become the fastest selling single of the year and most prob go on to become the best selling single of 2007. what a joke! i was kinda hoping Kirsty MacColl and the pogues would have been at number one (or even number two) with fairytail of new york. the best ever festive song without a doubt. merry christmas

As recommended I read the Popjustice comments on Fairytale of New York. They made some good points including ones about Radio 1 having double standards and others about people finding some words and attitudes offensive.
And what was their comment next to a picture of Louis Walsh? "Who's fg pop up the *rs*?"

How about Radio 1 censoring more songs for a persecuted minority?
That "minority" of people offended by this manufactured trash "music" being churned out and overhyped by some crap, dated idea of a TV show! X-factor/idol/academy/whatever ..
Actually come to think of it, for a self-opinionated, reasonably educated, developed country (yeah, I mean the UK) these people should be in the majority ..
