From A To Bee And On To Ee minus...

Chris Evans | 13:03 UK time, Wednesday, 30 March 2011

It's not being wrong that concerns me.

It's where the whole bee story came from in my head. I wasn't slightly wrong, I was
science-fictionally wrong.

Most bees are girls - and they do all the work, there are a few drone boy bees and a royal jelly fed baby bee becomes the new queen.

I'm off to the book shop now, the Bernie Ecclestone biography is a right rip roaring read, but it's not furthering my knowledge of anything that actually matters.

Having hair...

Chris Evans | 13:00 UK time, Tuesday, 29 March 2011

...re-arranged again. TV appearance calls this evening. Fern Britton has a new show called Fern.

I know the lady who produces the programme, through my relationship with Saturday Kitchen. She asked for some pals' support on the first week. I said 'I'm in', and so tonight, I'm on.

"Colour?" Asked Mario.

"Why not ?" replied I.

Where there used to be trepidation, there is now only certainty. Another lesson learnt.

A4, just passing major supermarket beginning with T.

Radio till 9.30, and then home and 4 hours in the garden. There is raking to be done, seeds to be sown, and lots of trophy cuppas to be had.

After that a half hour resting of the eyes, I then have Noah - from teatime to bathtub. Finally, bring on the pasta, unbung the red wine, and settle down to Prof Brian Cox, Wonders Of The Universe.

That sounds alright dunnit ?

You Can't Beat A Bit Of Babs

Chris Evans | 11:37 UK time, Friday, 25 March 2011

Barbara Windsor lifted the nation right up this morning on the radio. I thought I felt pretty happy anyway today but by the time Babs had left I was bouncing off the ceiling. She's seventy four - for crying out loud ! What's she got coursing through her veins that the rest of us haven't ?

Honestly, gee whizz, she is as good as it gets, take my word please. Can't wait to see her again and so beautiful. Bacon butty for me now. After a week of agonising pork resistance I am now declaring myself once again -open for pig.

Mr Blue Sky: Take Two.

Chris Evans | 10:00 UK time, Thursday, 24 March 2011

Here we go again (most of us that is).

We're full, bursting at the seams with sunshine - apologies to those unable to look up at such wonderment.

What to do with a sky so blue?

I already can't wait for now.

Mr Blue You Did It Right.

Chris Evans | 10:16 UK time, Wednesday, 23 March 2011

Wow, weather like this is off the scale ain't it? Sun is one thing, but blue sky like this kills me, it's so beautiful.

And all whilst the grass is still a delicious lush green, yet to become thirsty at the mercy of another summer.

This is Britain at its very best - enjoy my little chicklets, enjoy.

Homage To Ken

Chris Evans | 09:48 UK time, Tuesday, 22 March 2011

The Bruce Meister has been afflicted with a mild cold to the head. What cures, people of Blogland?

Hot and spicy suggests cure, but what is the reality? Comfort food does what it says on the tin, but can often be a fast track to more congestion with its often dairy roots.

I propose large doses of the sofa, and re runs of The Italian Job and other movies featuring iconic cars. Almost worth getting ill for.

Fireman Sam and My Mam.

Chris Evans | 14:31 UK time, Monday, 21 March 2011

Fireman Sam for Noah, has taken over from Escape To The Country for me - as the prime telly viewing when we're afternooning at my Mum's, like we are today.

But I have to say, pesky little Norman is a right bloomin' firebug. Everywhere that kid goes, another blaze sparks up. Our collective vote by the way is in favour of the 3D old episodes, over the new CGI.

Other ingredients to a successful afternoon of loveliness at Mrs Evans Snr's, include the kettle and the biccie tin.

Calories don't count when my mum's involved. Er - I hope.

Mummy's Boys

Chris Evans | 13:17 UK time, Wednesday, 16 March 2011

It's a midweek run to my mum's for Noah and I. That is - "a run" in car terms mind you, nothing more. Not that anything more would be sensible. My mum's place is at least thirty miles from where we live, and Noah has only got little legs.

Post show thoughts today: Still no official steer on whether or not it's ok to pick a "few" wild flowers. Plus, I wonder if the bosses here at R2 would remotely be up for an OB from next year's World Potato Congress in Edinburgh...

Right Noah - you hold the map - it's chocks away.

Near Mist.

Chris Evans | 09:59 UK time, Tuesday, 15 March 2011

Mist shrouded much of the UK early this morning. Or was it fog? Turns out the jury's undecided. There is a mist limit and likewise a fog one too. But no one's quite sure where the knitting finishes and the crocheting starts. And as for mizzle - do we even have time to consider it ?

Blue sky is what we want. Come on God or God's wife (Ö÷²¥´óÐã 2 tonight Secrets Of The Bible) blue is the new you.

For Better Or For Worse.

Chris Evans | 09:53 UK time, Monday, 14 March 2011

Sitting in the studio at seven minutes past nine. Santana at full volume, really bad for my ears but fabulous for the soul.

What are you gonna do?

Have a great Monday everyone.

Glow Manilow Glow.

Chris Evans | 12:05 UK time, Friday, 11 March 2011

Superstars have one thing in common. They are all very, very good at what they do. You cannot become a superstar any other way. You can have a shifty five minutes of fame, but superstardom will never be yours otherwise.

Barry's new album is called Fifteen Minutes. All about fame and how it comes and goes, and what to do with it whilst it's there. Needless to say, I will be listening to it all weekend.

The Afternoon After The Morning After The Night Before.

Chris Evans | 16:21 UK time, Wednesday, 9 March 2011

Woah! Feeling somewhat fragile this afternoon. The team won a pair of awards yesterday and the lunch where the awards took place evolved into a modest - yet nevertheless pretty purposeful - early evening soiree.

Thank goodness I've learned to leave the young guns to it. Even though I was in bed well before ten, boy you know when you've had a few drinks as you get older. The washing machine is no longer what it once was. No bad thing.

The Archbishop That Just Keeps On Giving

Chris Evans | 11:12 UK time, Tuesday, 8 March 2011

John Sentamu is God's disciple, by his own declaration. Well, I don't know what God's paying at the moment, but whatever it is John deserves a rise - or at least a bonus. Forever smiling, his joy disguises his tiredness. He works so bloomin' hard.

And all he does is give, give, give.

Amen AB JS.

Blue Sky Thinking

Chris Evans | 12:43 UK time, Monday, 7 March 2011

Except on a day like today - it's almost too cold to feel your brain. Glorious to look at - all this wondrous, cloudless magnificence but from the inside of the glass only.

I've taken refuge one step further as I blog from under a duvet. I'm not actually that cold but I do love being oh so cosy.

The crumbs from my second pasty are getting on me bits though. Sorry, but it's true.

Stephen Merchant Of Clever

Chris Evans | 10:38 UK time, Friday, 4 March 2011

A joy to have SM on the show today. Could talk to him forever. George Michael is coming in this afternoon to pre record a chat for Monday. You couldn't have two more different characters and topics of conversation really could you ?

One down, one to go. Throw me a rope, I'm going in. And yes I will ask all the big questions (er. . . I think)

Have a great weekend People Of The Blog.

Slugs, One Of The Stars Of Life's Show - Who Knew ?

Chris Evans | 11:21 UK time, Wednesday, 2 March 2011

With thousands of teeth, although the jury's out as to how many exactly, just the one huge big foot and the ability to self amputate - should it need to do so whilst under attack, I think the slug has worked out quite a little act for itself, don't you?

Discoveries like this are what make the three hours I'm on the radio fly by every morning. I only hope if it feels the same on your side of the speaker. Please - don't tell me if it doesn't. Currently sticking my fingers in my ears and humming loudly just in case.

Bread Of Heaven

Chris Evans | 13:29 UK time, Tuesday, 1 March 2011

On St. David's Day of all days, and purely by coincidence no more, we were delivered a basket of artisan bread to our home this morning. I was made aware this might happen yesterday, and sure enough there it was waiting for me when I arrived in from work.

Now, when I say me, I do so not out of any primeval need for proprietorship, but because there was no one else around. As a consequence of this situation, please don't tell my wife or son that there were originally five loaves, as for some spooky reason there is now only evidence of three and a half.

Shhhh.

Bun's the word.
