Wooooh ignorant hippies, even without many many trees we would still be able to breath..most of our oxygen is recycled by algae and more simplistic forms of plantlife, as the more advanced flaura take in oxygen at night.

Also, have you seen how many trees there are there? Overcrowding is cruel for trees as muc has it is for animals if you believe trees should have rights, as it prevents the growing of new ones.(just thought i'd make a stand for people who aren't crazy hippies).

ok, so Dom, you put up quite an innocent post updating with the goings on in your world and all you get is grief.

Tree hugers asking you to have more thought for the environment, telling you to go to the gym instead of cutting down trees, 'it takes years to grow and you chop it down in a second'.....and???? It's the same people who drive those environmentally friendly 'i run on pigeon crap' cars. NOT COOL

Hey, one for you vegetarian (but I eat fish) tree hugging environmentally friendly dudes......i just planted a tree in my garden to replace the one that Dom chopped down in his.........and then I used my banned hosepipe to water it......go figure!!!

I miss 1 Road Travel when driving myself to Uni every morning...now I am in Germany (have been away for a YEAR...working for a famous german car manufacturer who, funnily enough, HAVE NOT given me a car), but thankfully returning to the UK soon! You are always so funny on the show and I love listening to the podcast on the bus...even though I have laughed out loud many times, much to the horror of my fellow german bus-riders (I know, LAUGHING...phew, not used to THAT over here).

Anyway love the blog, love the show, LOVE LOVE LOVE your impressions (esp. the Jade Goody one! Brilliant!). Keep it up!

I really think you should take up another excercise to release your inner stress. Tree-chopping is not the way to go! It takes so long for a tree to grow and you destroy it in a second. I think you could have taken more thoughts and transplant the trees to other spaces...

Next time please take more thoughts for our environment.

hello dom, chopping trees is great fun until something goes wrong. we chopped a tree down with an axe. we tied rope to it to guide it in the right direction. it fell the wrong way and dragged us with it. next door didn't find it as funny as we did.

Dom, You dont look like you sound! Not sure what or who i expected you to look like. I think you come out with some brilliant 1 liners, real funny!

Your blogs are so much better than Aled's, id much rather read about chopping down trees than an HDTV stand. I must try this tree chopping.

Dom, whenever people complain that Chris only works 3 hours a day, you are always remarkably quiet.

Could this indeed be that you are afraid that somebody will point out that you only work an estimated 21 minutes per day (seven 3 minute bulletins each morning, from 6.30am to 10.30am)? Don't try and argue that you work in between - your Ceefax copying has been well documented before now.

Im going to be honest Dom and here and say i truly have never chopped any trees. Though i watched my dad did it once. Before he chopped the tree though, he lopped the branches, whatever that may be. I think its like tying a rope round the branches, then grabbing on the rope and swinging from it to make the branches break, which to me, looks waaaay more fun. You should try it Dom. I had a go, but since i wasnt heavy enough to break the actual branches, i was just really dangling from a tree doing absolutely nothing to help the lopping situation.

Anyway, it seems i mightve just wrote a comment that maybe just strikes people as ridiculously boring, a bit like Daves blogs :D...though i like Daves blogs so it might not be a bad thing :D

What happened - did you move into a wood?

What are you going to do with the trees once they are felled? I have some suggestions

1)build a memorial in the middle of your garden commemorating the slaughter

2)Construct a log cabin which you turn into an eco-centre to warn against the environmental perils of, er, logging

3) Build a bonfire and charge people a tenner to watch it burn. Send the money to a charity that provides logs for homeless beavers to construct their own dams

4) Turn the logs into bark chippings and sell them in Tesco bags from the front of your house

5) Take up wood turning - a hobby for life.
