So you may have heard the news on the show this morning, but if not, with this blog I hereby announce my engagement. During a lovely night out for us two on Friday night when Nicole was being looked after by her grandma, I decided to pop the question to Jayne. She must have thought that I had bad guts when I disappeared to the lavatory for about 15 minutes, but what she didn’t know was that I was actually outside on the phone to her dad asking his permission first (got me loads of brownie points). Upon re-emerging from the ‘toilet’ I asked her to marry me, and fortunately she said yes, thus saving a lot of embarrassment and ruining a perfectly good meal.

The close proximity of the tables in the restaurant made going down on one knee impractical in such cramped surroundings, but I don’t think it detracted from the beauty of the moment.

So, I’m now the third member of the team to get engaged, as Jayne and I now set about finding a lovely venue for our forthcoming nuptuals next year. All good, all very happy, and Rachel said I should let you all know.

Off out to lunch now to celebrate
