I didn't realise the DVD gets released so soon after the series ends! That's definitely going on pre-order tonight!

Curious what the ending's going to be - will it lend itself to a second series then?

I'm crossing everything for a second series! I thought you would have already been given the green light for some more 'Psychoville'. Its been a terrific success - its had a brilliant response from fans & (nearly all) critics. Its done more than enough to justify one. Episode 4 is already a classic & on its own should surely get the commissioning editors busy with new contracts. Thats without mentioning how GREAT the other episodes have been (episode 6 is one of my favourites)
You couldn't have made 'Psychoville' any better - its been an amazing series & a fantastic online experience. There are images & scenes from the series that will stay with me for a very long time, if not forever.
I'm buying the DVD first thing on Monday. Wish there had been an in-store signing...but so many DVD retailers have closed down in the last year, the stores are few & far between now. Am really looking forward to the legendary commentaries & all the extras!
Congratulations on a mesmerising & unique series. Thursdays will be really dull after tonight. Its been a triumphant for you and Steve & everyone involved in the production. All the best for the awards I'm sure it will receive...and best wishes for a second series!

Ö÷²¥´óÐã, PLEASE commission a second series of Psychoville!!! Absolutely fantastic. The past 6 weeks have been Mr Jelly-tastic. And Dawn French was spellbinding. We want more! Thanks.

This has been the best thing on tv for absolutely ages and now that excitement has to go until surely a second series is commissioned! The ending was rather ambigious i have to say but it keeps us cliffhanging yet again if a second series ever does come about. I thought the league would be very hard to top but this is equally on par for brilliant dark comedy. I sounds slightly sycophantic i realise but thank you again. Black Lace superman how many of us have done that dance... though not often after a murder....

The ending has left me so angy I could vomit - I committed to a seven part series, believing it to be a complete story - Introducing so many new elements and then ending like that was ridiculous and has left me feeling that I wasted my time watching the entire series - Buy the DVD? you've got to be kidding!

Most shocking ending I could have imagined really.
My theories were pretty ridiculous, stupid in hindsight.

Genuine tears did occur Im afraid to say.
Bring Jelly back, I dont know how but perhaps his stump and the (lovely) old lady chained to him could have shielded him from his death...somehow.

The shot with Jelly being touched by a small boy and leaning over an old woman with her knickers down kept m laughing alone for abotu ten minutes.

Excellent!!! I've just seen the final episode of this series. It's a very original idea and I love it! The characterisations are brilliant and so is the casting. I really believe there is further to go with this sitcom and I'm off to buy a chicken now (I think it's worth it to wish for a series 2!) I've pre-ordered the DVD and am looking forward to it's arrival. Do you know if there are any bonus/unseen bits attached to the DVD - that would be really great! Oscar Lomax is brilliant and I'd love to see more of him, and thank God for that melon - anyone with as much integrity and love as a neurotic murderer must surely be too valuable to lose! This is the first time I've commented like this online about a TV show but I thought it was worth it since it was the cleverest, most engaging 'sitcom' I've seen for a long while. Well done and now it's time for you to knuckle down to writing a second series: maybe Maureen could curse people from beyond the grave and you could bring in other characters with a link somehow. Nurse Kenchington was a witch and Kerry had stolen her locket (hence the carrie like powers).

Robert saw the rat had chewed through the phone cable and Kerry was obviously faking the conversation. He realised he had fallen into a trap but it was too late as he was drugged and going to be used in some witchcraft by Kerry's grandmother.

Was this what happened at the end there?

Come on, there has too be a second series....is Maureen dead?...what will happen to David? Did any of the others live? What about Robert & Kerrie?

Fantastic series (the only one to ever prompt me to post a comment on the bbc website) we need a second installment, maybe even a prequel covering the characters as has been suggested on some sites.

The League was a hard act to follow but you did it...can't believe it ended so quickly!!

I really liked the ending of this season. They did warn us that it was going to be in the vain of lost/heroes so what did you expect?!, It's a slightly different writing style for them and i have to say i liked watching how they pieced all the storylines together. Good job! I will however say that the ending may seem less frustrating ,to the few, if they knew that these new questions will eventually get answered (I love and hate Lost with a passion becouse they do this so well). So please keep that in mind when you complain about the ending couse it dosen't have to be that. It could be a milestone in the tale.

Congratulations on a brilliant series - both myself and my husband loved it. I've been trying to get him to watch The League of Gentlemen for years so may have finally cracked it by lulling him with Psychoville. Wonderfully written and acted, I enjoyed every single episode. Is is wrong though that I have a little crush on Mr Jelly?!?

I find it silly you've had this sort of ending. What if you don't get the second series? We've been left in the lurch with episode seven then. Please manage to wrap up series' better, always assuming this is the final series.

Of course, Psychoville is so great I'd be amazed this doesn't get its second, third and then Christmas special.

I was confused by the ending until I realised that the guys were angling for a second series which would be richly deserved. The 'Rope' episode alone makes this a classic series.

I cannot believe it ended on such a cliff hanger, lets all hope for a second series.

I must admit as a big fan of The league of Gentlemen I was skeptical that anything could be as good but I was hooked from the first episode and honestly think this is the best new comedy the Ö÷²¥´óÐã have shown in quite a while.

I loved the way that I was laughing at things I really shouldn't have been and realised I have a rather sick sense of humour!

I am a huge fan of the League (and yes, I almost died when I saw Mark Gatiss!) and Psychoville followed in the same vein...it was FANTASTIC. creepy, disturbing yet wonderful :) and quite a laugh too :)

I was blown away by Psychoville - superbly written, utterly gripping and laugh-out-loud funny. My favourite line: "David always was the weakest link-goodbye" - awesome. Congratulations Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton.

Firstly, congratulations on an excellent series! Second series should be a shoe-in unless you fall victim to the current economic climate. I should not have thought that you need a budget like "Robin Hood" though, so hopefully there will indeed be more.

Personally, I rather like the notion of leaving things hanging. If enough people show an interest, it increases the odds of a second series. If people on these boards want to get angry, then they can aim it at production wallahs (and successive governments for the stitch-up on charter renewal, but I digress). It should be clear enough that the creative talent want to take things on. Perhaps we should be lamenting the fact that the series was only seven episodes in the first place. Gone are the days when a full series was commissioned and pressure was kept off the shoulders of the talent. It's a truism to say that Monty Python or Q would not get made today. They probably would; but whether they would survive long enough for an audience to grow before the ax prematurely fell is something else.

I remember when Peter Cook died, there were lots of comments directed to how he had let himself and us down by a descent into alcoholism and pornography in his latter years; that he should have done more comedically; that he had prostituted his talent. Not Only... But Also and Derek and Clive were not, seemingly, enough for some people. They had probably committed themselves to more and felt so angry they could vomit. Sometimes you just have to be truly thankful when something simply wonderful happens along. I dearly hope that the thoroughly justifiable second series duly happens. The first one has been a treat and I thank you for it.

Psychoville is the only thing I have watched on the TV for years and is a real masterpiece, sooooo funny and original!
I am a long time fan of the League of Gentlemen and have spent my whole life in cryptic music literature and arts... Psychoville is amazing.
will definitely buy the DVD as soon as it'll be available on the 3rd august ;)

Really good stuff, in the league of The League, so to speak. A bit angry about the ending, like you played a trick on us viewers. I was expecting neat ending as it's a rather cheap trick they use for soaps and unneccessary in quality entertainment. Frustrating? An understatement. I think you can end a series and restart another one with some other grabbing mystery, a trick used by Desperate Housewives, where the mystery is solved and we get another one in the next series. Obviously your offering is a quality one so not comparable but they do know how to keep their viewers!

Well done to the creators and the cast. A tremendous sucess. I thought this show was brilliant. David was the character that I had a sympathy towards by the end.

This is, for me, top level classic British comedy, placed in a contemporary setting.

Really looking foward to another series that keeps most, if not all, of the original cast, expands their characters, and introduces new characters. Brilliant. Thanks for that.

Loved the show and the additional online websites. Great imagination, acting and production. Auntie Beeb will be a fool not to renew.

One of the best things I have seen on TV in ages. The end was a little abrupt but it does set itself up nicely for a second series, which I sincerely hope they are already working on :)

The characters were all excellent, although Lomax was probably my favourite (his mobile phone was great and him helping douse the hospital in flammable ketchup had me in stitches).

Great show, left wanting more. Was very suprised I received the dvd the day after the last episode, excellent stuff. If you ever need more inspiration then go to a town called 'stockton-on-tees' I kid you not this place is like a living Royston Vasey on smack and LSD ridng unicorns through scum and chaos...well perhaps not like that but it is the weirdest place I have ever had the unpleasure of living in. So many characters its scary. please come, 'you will want to leave' im sure

True, a great series but what an apalling end to what could have been an outstanding climax.
I have been sincerely longing for today to come around, safe in the knowledge that the 'final episode' was tonight, especially after all the confusion around the showings. Finding there was no 'final episode' came as a nasty shock. This is so disappointing its incomprehensible. I appreciate the writers were trying to do something different and it reminds me of the third series of The League of Gentlemen where they tried something very clever and original by intertwining the separate stories but they never quite pulled it off. To go on to do this it seems things are just going downhill (and we won't mention the movie).
To 'finish' like that was pure laziness and sheer unashamed audacity by the writers to 'blackmail' the Ö÷²¥´óÐã into commissioning another series. By the writers' own admission they had no clue how the series was ever going to conclude when they first began. So instead of weaving all the storylines neatly together in their clever dark and comedic way (which they were perfectly capable of), the writers just stop the series one episode too early! The story clearly has loose ends - some of which are only introduced in the 'final' episode (such as the locket) but no attempt was made to even suggest any logical answers. I'm not arguing that there can be no frustration or ambiguity at the end of a series but starting new threads and not even approaching any answers to the stories (as these are still multiple at the end) is a crime against this otherwise amazing show. It's so disappointing that these writers/actors that I held in such high esteem before could stoop so low with this cheap trick. As can be read above (and I'm sure below) it seems to have worked to some degree, with the predictable demands of people calling for further programmes. These people have fallen unwittingly to respond exactly how they were designed to, unquestioning in their bleats to "have some more", 'Olivers' in the Psychoville writers' workhouse, slurping up the gruel that was the last episode. So, in this endeavor at least, they are successful. The praise, plaudits and pleas for more are unfortunately not a rosy reflection on how special or clever this caliginous comedy concluded (a conclucion which was easily achievable by these talented people - adding to my anger), its simply that it didn't finish, leaving the viewer to hang irredeemably over the proverbial cliff. The whole thing stops after just another episode ensuring the viewers are left exasperated and gasping for answers- which they'll only get IF a second series is given the go ahead. And given the climate in television today one sure way of clinching the elusive second series is to get the viewing public to voice their opinion in your favour.
On one of the interviews on the website we are promised answers and resolution- this clearly doesn't happen and I feel I've been lied to. On the last interview they claim there will be huge explanations on the DVD but I'm not holding my breath, its probably just another ploy to sell something else.
There's so much left undone, questions such as;
what is the significance of the locket?, who's dead?, where's Joy's husband?, Freddy?, David?, his mother?, who is Kerry and what do she and her Grandma want?, among others but perhaps most importantly - Why would they do this!??
I had enjoyed this series massively up until this point and cannot believe how they've come so close to unforgivably ruining it. I am in two minds to whether there should be another series but, like a lamb to the slaughter, I undoubtedly would be compelled to watch. IF the next episodes to the series Are made maybe finally,

The above rambling considered nonsense is typical of these people that for some strange
reason think nothing was answered at the end of this series. Everything was! Idiotic to ask
"Who lived?" Only two things remain a puzzle. What is the locket and what is going on with that
old hag! All this stupidity about "blackmailing" viewers ! Who ever wrote the above post knows
nothing of the complexities of tv commissioning - but it isn't as easy as just writing a cliff hanger
for the end of your first series! It's ungracious and rather mean, but above all childish to dismiss a
a truly brilliant series, just because the ending made you "cross". !

If another series of 2 pints of lager and a packet of turds gets commissioned and this gets left after 1 series (a fate which seem to befall too many excellent comedies, the beeb have no taste!) then I will have lost my faith in human kind.
And to plumboy, as Mr Shearsmith has written above enjoy the ride, the series arc has been excellent but I consider it framing for the brilliant and dark humor on display, said humor is the main reason Im hoping for a second series.
