Has Eastenders been cancelled this evening because of football?. Eastenders is one of the only worthwhile programmes on t.v at the moment. Why force the entire population of Britain to watch a poxy game invented in the 19th century by Industrialists to keep the workers from realising how down-trodden they were.

We get 30 mins less actually if you check your maths, and I agree with Liz, why do the only people who seem to matter in this country football fans? What would have been wrong with putting EE on Ö÷²¥´óÐã2 instead? poor show again Ö÷²¥´óÐã!

Agree with you, was looking forward to Eastenders on iplayer - I feel like football is in my face. I'd rather make my own choices what to watch. I understand some things may need to be shifted to accommodate "special occasions" (eg. football, coronations etc), but I think sensitivity should be given to the most popular of the other programs. For example, I'd much rather it were screened on one of the other Ö÷²¥´óÐã channels or at the very least on iplayer on the day it is expected.

i agree with sarahbennent...it should have at least been played on bbc 3 at 10 like it usually is....

Sooooooooooooooooo disappointed ! Why couldn't they have put it on Ö÷²¥´óÐã 2 or Ö÷²¥´óÐã 3 , one of the most popular soaps and they shove football on instead . With the football being held for the next month, due to the world cup, could it be possible to move eastenders to Ö÷²¥´óÐã3 instead or place it on Ö÷²¥´óÐã2, this will please everyone, for people who don't like football, instead of just cancelling it all together. We've already had alot of changes to the schedual due to the General Election, can it please be sorted so everyone can be happy and still have their favourite programmes at normal times?

Will everyone be slating the decision to not screen an episode on the Friday of Children in Need (once a year) or Comic Relief (once every 2 years)?

You wonder why your viewing figures are so low at the moment for EE, try not messing us around like this all the time! Put Eastenders on Ö÷²¥´óÐã2 and be done with it, or even better, put the football on Ö÷²¥´óÐã2/3/4, why the heck should the entire country have to watch that drivel just because a few hooligans want to!

sometimes we just have to put up with one or two changes and im sure that there is plenty of people out there that don't enjoy EastEnders and im sure that the bbc are doing there best to try and make everyone happy!

I nearly fell off my chair laughing to hear that your 'HORRIFIED' EE isn't on tonight. Come on...such a strong word and over reaction to a schedule change. I am actually 'HORRIFIED' that so many people's lives seem to revolve around their telly and what's on.

The World Cup is only on every 4 yrs and MOST of the planet is watching it. It's far more important than Eastenders. In fact to draw a simple comparison for you guys and girls, if the football world cup was a planet, it would be the SUN. If Eastenders was a planet, it would be on the end of my keying. There not even in the same league so please give up because your all in a very small microscopic minority and the Ö÷²¥´óÐã is fully aware of this.

To comfort you guys some more, I would say that a massive proportion of this years license money has gone to paying for world cup broadcasts whereas Eastenders budget probably wouldn't even register on a chart or graph.

I love each & every one of you Eastenders fans! I really do, because I love them as well! I live in the United States and can't get the Eastenders and cannot use the IPlayer. I traveled to England for many years and got the "Eastenders fever." A Public Television station used to show 2 hours of the Eastenders on a Sunday afternoon. I loved Sundays! One day, eight (8) years ago, they took it off! Do you know how awful it is to only see clips of episodes on Youtube? Well, a month ago I began an extensive search for a site that showed full episodes. Just when I was ready to give up I found one. I cannot get back the missed episodes but did start watching from about a year ago. So now I watch the episodes only a day or two late. I am so very thankful for being able to watch my favorite British soap. I guess what I'm trying to say is be thankful you do not have to go through what I go through to see the Eastebders...By the Way...it's fans like YOU that keep this show on the air! Well I for one do watch the world cup but I also don't care that it's only every few years! I want my Eastenders! I come home from work, cook dinner, eat then always look forward to settling down to watch Eastenders! This sucks that they're not showing it tonight! It should be shown as usual on Ö÷²¥´óÐã2, like it sometimes has been in the past! As for those of you saying there must be plenty who don't like Eastenders??? Who cares! Eastenders is a REGuLAR 4 days a week thing, anyone who doesn't like it probably has other stuff they always watched instead anyway!

For goodness sake, get a life. World cup only on every 4 years, EE on 4 times a week. Surely you can adjust your life accordingly or does your life revolve around EE?. I watch every episode but I dont mind missing out on 1 episode a week to watch a very important world sport event which may just bring the people of this planet closer . I am one of the many people who HATE football and dread the world cup which comes around 4 years too often in my opinion!
Dan: Not everyone even wants to watch Children in Need or Comic Relief, either. That's not to say I don't offer my support to charities in other ways (I am currently a volunteer for 3 different charities and have also worked on the phone lines for these events in the past.)
And Mr Dingus: How is football an 'important' sporting event? Isn't it only important to the football fans and over-paid players??? And does it REALLY bring the people of this planet closer together? Quite a substantial claim. I have seen it breed a lot of discontent, personally.
I respect there are a lot of people follow the World Cup, but why does it have to take over Ö÷²¥´óÐã1? Why don't they put the World Cup on Ö÷²¥´óÐã2 instead? ^^

Again I am gutted . No Eastenders because of football again , You could have at least put it on Ö÷²¥´óÐã3 for us . The Ö÷²¥´óÐã do not seem to care for those TV fans who cannot get out because of disabilitys , yes your most dedicated customers . Like the other day when the only choice we had was football on one and tennis on two and a different football game on three and repeats on all the other channels . All I would like to know is; where is the 4th episode for the week? & Will we be able to see this next week, or online?
I am a huge EE fan, however I do not understand the 'horrified' people who are complaining so strongly. Re-scheduling is nothing more than impractical. We shall still get our fill of EE, as they wouldn't just drop episodes here and there, as they cost time & money to film. Also, EE knows that fans wouldn't be able to follow the plot with episodes missing. I think we should all just calm down & keep ourselves updated. :)

what the hell? As an expat who lives in Italy I am really fed up with this! First Ö÷²¥´óÐã Prime was taken off the air here, no fault to the Ö÷²¥´óÐã but SKYItalia, then we all had to find different ways to follow Eastenders. I do not watch Italian TV, unless it is a political programme, seeing as all they show are stupid series from years ago, 10 year old films, half naked women dancing at all hours of the day and night and stupid programmes so Eastenders is something I look forward too and I find out its being shafted to make room for the world cup!? Who cares about the World cup!? Grown, overpaid men (they are not sportsmen) who dance around a field for 90 minutes?! Football has gone downhill in the last few years and has been given too much importance, especially here in Italy and it is so sad to see the same thing happening at home!

Come on Ö÷²¥´óÐã pull your socks up and give the public, and not only the public in the UK seeing as there is also an American posting on here, what they want! Eastenders!!!!!!!!! Leave the football to other stations, and for the poster who talked about how much the Ö÷²¥´óÐã paid for the world cup rights, would it not be better investing our TV Licence money into, lets say, educational programmes which can be used around the world to teach subjects in English? Or a few nice documentaries? O what about if they had given the amount of money WASTED on the world cup to a charity? THAT would have been alot better and would have made more licence payers happy instead of being forced to watch an overrated "sport" with over rated and overpaid players and commentators even if it is only once every 4 years.

Im fed up with EastEnders being bumped off because of the football or something-else. There is too much football on the Television currently. Cant the Ö÷²¥´óÐã make a separate sports channel available to all viewers (I.E. On FreeView / Digital / On-line / Terrestrial (for those unfortunate enough to have converted to a Digital format yet)). Or have EastEnders on the regular time slots but over on Ö÷²¥´óÐã three, (I.E. Monday 20:00 Ö÷²¥´óÐã three instead of Ö÷²¥´óÐã one?). Football is getting rammed down my throat at the moment and I am not happy with it, I mean its on Ö÷²¥´óÐã one then I go and turn the channel to the other channel that is on 3 (you know the lesser channel that Ö÷²¥´óÐã don't advertise on the Ö÷²¥´óÐã) and football is on there too. It is getting annoying. I know its only every 4 years but why doesn't the Ö÷²¥´óÐã think of us wanting to watch the likes of EastEnders instead of football, why doesn't the Ö÷²¥´óÐã alternate the channels like to have EastEnders on another Ö÷²¥´óÐã channel or available On-Line until Television showings of the episodes catch up. Come on Ö÷²¥´óÐã sort it out.

I agree, there is nothing on TV thats good at the moment, i work all day and then am tired and dont want to go out on the town during the week so like to get home n chill out watching EE and the minimul amount of other worthwhile shows, i now have nothing realy to watch as footie is thrown in my face! why do i bother paying my tv licence for Ö÷²¥´óÐã when they have nothing i want to watch on!

You are pathetic. EE pulls in on average 6mn-8mn viewers. The world cup has billions watching, let me guess which Ö÷²¥´óÐã are going to get the most out of. EE is a good show but in no way a representation of East London.

This is a historic moment for African Heritage, and maybe we should let them have their time to shine rather than panicking about if we are going to know more about a poor boy being hit over the head with a spanner.

The pubs are full of football fans, there are dozens of channels to put the footy on now that the majority of the country has digital tv there is no need to have sports on bbc1. I am OUTRAGED about My Eastenders being cancelled this thursday, i'm in hospital with not 1 but TWO broken legs and its the only thing thats keeping me going and sane!!!! I hope the Ö÷²¥´óÐã can sleep at night because i sure can't!!! Why Ö÷²¥´óÐã WHY???

Why can't they put it on instead of crappynation street or emmerdull instead or put it on bbc 2 why dose eastenders always have to come second over crappy boring sport?

But some people are taking it too far with the complaining over the changes. I know that I never miss and episode but even if they are changing some of the days just now they will catch up eventually!
That is the whole point in showing hour long episodes and showing it onj Wednesdays some weeks.
And everyone is the same so it is not like you will completely miss an episode. It is just going to take a few weeks for everything to get back to normal.

Despite this, I think they should show the World Cup on ITV or Ö÷²¥´óÐã2 but since they obviously won't we are just going to have to live with it until the World Cup is over

jesus people, it's a soap not your life! i've been watching EE since i was like 6 but i'm not complaining about the changes, big deal it's on different times, cause the football is on, you should be glad EE is on tv! the bbc only has so much time, they can't put all the programs on, if the put another half an hour on bbc 2 all the other things won't be right, it's only temperary ( excuse my english, been living in holland for about 9 years now.)

As for putting EE only on Ö÷²¥´óÐã3 I would rather they didn't. For the last month I have not been able to watch Ö÷²¥´óÐã1, 2 or 3 on digital. I can barely watch Ö÷²¥´óÐã1 on analogue either - all these channels share the same broadcast frequency. There is nothing wrong at my end as all other channels are perfect. For some reason, in this area, the signal quality and strength for analogue channel 26 has fallen through the floor.

They are deliberately messing with broadcasts to experiment with how many channels they can squeeze in... at the expense of our viewing ability.

OH COME ON! The world cup comes around every FOUR years!!! Surely, a few re scheduled episodes are worth it! for a competition that the whole world enjoy! and its not like we will miss out on any EE! it will just be delayed!

I do not think many are complaining about the world cup being on. It seems to me that people are complaining that EE is NOT on, and with so many channels available I can understand that.
EE has repeatedly won awards due to its loyal fanbase (and its challenging storylines which are mostly treated with respect by a fabulous cast and scriptwriters). I feel it is a bad move from the Ö÷²¥´óÐã to forsake the loyal fans who simply want their 'piece of Walford' delivered to their front room. So the world cup comes around every 4 years... but that is not my concern. I am concerned that a precedent has now been set and that EE will be rescheduled for every sporting event.
Ö÷²¥´óÐã2 seems like a good compromise for showing EE, or... maybe the World Cup. Ö÷²¥´óÐã3, Ö÷²¥´óÐã4, Iplayer... there are many optons for showing such a popular programme instead of cancelling it altogether. How about an events channel to be added to terrestrial TV which could be utilised for things like World Cup, Olympics, Important news events, Eurovision etc...
Without wanting to sound like a flake, I am not outraged to the point of lodging a formal complaint. However, I do feel let down by the Ö÷²¥´óÐã on this occassion. Please, if anyone with the power to do anything reads this, try to keep regular fans happy in future and find some sort of compromise. Oh, and while you are at it... bring Grant back :p

Pagan Lyle - you have put it so well! I agree totally. As if the fact that EE has been rescheduled wasn't irritating enough for it's fans, we also get an episode less as well. So there is little consolation for EE fans who also happen to hate football. Come on Ö÷²¥´óÐã! Stop jipping the EE fans. We pay our licenses as well! :(
