It's such a change to see Janine crying, I think I'd like to see her emotional side more often, I know she's an evil bi... I mean female dog but people can change and I honestly think she likes Lydia, it's to bad she's going to die, her and Janine got on really well. Oh and by the way Eastenders, she's going to Pat for comfort! I mean I like Pat but I just don't see Janine going to her in her our of need. As for Max and Tanya, it's obvious they're going to have an affair, well they sort of have, I know they only kissed but it dosen't really matter it still means they love each other and ever since the kiss they've had such chemistry (well done Jake Wood and Jo Joyner!). I know Max did wrong by her but now he's got a chance to get his true love back, I don't think he'll ever do wrong by her again. Oh and as for Rainie, have an affair with Phil if you must but don't get him high again, oh and make sure Shirley finds out quick so she can kick both you and Phil out of the square. Now the whole Eddie and Carol thing isn't one bit entertaining, first of all I've already found a picture of them snogging (yeuch!) and second of all he's not even gonna be around long so STOP giving him duff duffs!

i don't think that Janine would have killed lydia because she's her only living relative from her mum's family aside from Ricky.

max and tanya are getting back together it has been reported and janine is proper turning nice MAKE HER BAD AGAIN EE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

I think it would be a shame if max and tanya got back together because greg is so lovely and doesn't deserve to be ditched. especially since max declared his un-dying love for stacey at the airport when she left! Also, I agree with random that janine didn't kill lydia because she misses her mum and it's obvious, so why would she kill her only living connection to her off? and they have gotten really close lately

What a fantastic episode! (Monday 13 June). I was so please for Max and Vanessa, heartbroken for Mercy and Arthur and moved to tears by the scenes with Janine and her granny. Janine should win an award for her acting skills. She really is a fabulous actress!

Who would of though it, Janine has a heart! Can't wait for next episode!!!!

I think Max made the right choice for choosing Vanessa.I feel sorry for Janine.

I think that Vanessa can do a lot better than Max because she doesnt know about him and Tanya kissing at the hospital on the day Greg and Tanya got married. Everyone knows that Max doesnt really love her, he loves Tanya..... I feel sorry for poor Janine, as soon as she gets close with her grandma she dies! I am glad that Pat is there for her xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I have to admit, this is the first time a little tear was in my eye when seeing Janine on-screen. Usually it's eye rolling with her! Very delicately handled, reminds me when Nana Moon died, and Alfie knew but still kept holding her. Aww. One last thing, EE get the Brannings OFF! Their story lines are so boring/typical (other than the Jack/Ronnie/Kat fiasco).

Brilliant acting from all in this episode. Fantastic to see a different side to Janine, makes the character more believable and accessible. Lydia and Charlie worked brilliantly together, keeping the humour whilst portraying the sensitive side of the situation. My family is going through a very similar situation at present, and we agreed it was a subject well handled.
Also lovely to see Vanessa and Max connecting, and hopefully him realising what he has in Vanessa, before it's too late. Was nice to see Vanessa without so much slap! Very sincere, touching acting here too.

Brilliant episode on 13th. It would have been better as a two-hander. I was so drawn to the scenes between Janine & her grandmother that I found the other parts an annoyance especially as I couldn`t care less about Mercy.
Great script & acting by both actresses & very moving.
The Tanya/Max thing is a little unrealistic as when Stacey was leaving Max was proclaiming his undying love for her. Now it`s as if she never existed because he has undying love for Tanya.
Max can`t seem to believe that any woman he`s been involved with could possibly be attracted to anyone else. Perhaps he just wants what he can`t have. If Vanessa left him for someone else would he forget Tanya & try to get Vanessa back? What if Stacey came back, who would he want then? Badly thought out storyline.

Anyway back to the 2 superb actresses in tonight`s episode, well done & it`s great that Janine is no longer being typecast. Please let Janine be a more rounded character than she`s been for years.

Thought last night's episode was one of the best in ages. Janine and Lydia's relationship has been the best aspect of the programme in the last few weeks (bar Dot's struggles to look after Jim, which was also really well portrayed) and it was such a shame that it had to end so soon. The subject matter was really sympathetically handled and the first time it really moved me in a very long time.

Please can the script writers give Janine a break and the inquest/investigation into Lydia's death which I presume will be the next twist in the story turn out in her favour? Please dont send her to prison again!

I'm also hoping that the will she saw last night was a fake to test Janine on her real feelings for her Gran, and she actually gets left all of the money. And with her change of heart she'll give half to Ricky and the kids... But nothing ever turns out that nicely in Walford does it?!

The Mercy/Arthur storyline is so boring, please bring it to a swift end by deporting...them both. Stale storylines at the moment it needs action!

Very moving episode (Monday 13th) with Janine and her grandmother. A new side to the character. I would have liked Janine to inherit some money though - I'm not quite sure what she lives on at the moment.....

what a moving epiosde that was last night! i was nearly in tears when lydia died, it was good that you showed janine's softer side of her heart i just hope aswell that was janine said was atually true and she did not make it up. I thought when you brought lydia in her and janine both were very funny and i couldnt stop laughing aww i love lydia. Still sad lydia is gone and such a shame for janine she is left sad and devestated!

However I think you should include ronnie in the episodes more we have only seen her a few times since she got out on bail and she should be working with her releationship with jack more and stuff! :)

I can't believe how dreadful the writing for Ronnie is. Who is writing this material?
How can you have a person who had a very obvious breakdown with flashbacks and other symptoms of PTSD, act normal two episodes later? Ronnie can't be calm now. She HAS LOST HER THIRD CHILD in less then two years.
She would be grieving and possibly be suicidal.
It is horrible. The character has so many issues, now is not the time to write her calm and reflective. She wouldn’t be.

Why is Ronnie appearing so little?
This is her exit storyline and there is hardly anytime left. Even when she is in EE is about Michael, Roxy.
What happened to Ronnie grieving for her child? James has died. Ronnie was suicidal after Danielle. Her behaviour was very erratic after Danielle and after Archie’s death. She would be 10 times worse now. I don’t understand the writing for her at all.

I've got good news before Ronnie leaves EE Kat is going to forgive her when she goes to court as she realises why Ronnie haf done what she did

I feel sorry for Janine, she was so close to her Gran and to be honest they both enlightened up EE's up abit more with their jokes.
The only joker now is Fatboy and I hope he's not going anyway too soon! :p
Janine's Gran should've stayed longer in Eastenders but I have Pat for blaming Jankine when she didn't even know what happened.
I hope Janine can prove to everyone she DIDN'T do it, hopefully. (:
Christian's being ungrateful, that's what I think when Syed's done everything for him.
I just think Tanya's jealous and getting in the way and Max is only marrying Vannessa in hope that Tanya will get jealous. -.-

Love eastenders

I have been an Eastenders fan since it began, and have never felt motivated enough to write a comment previously. However, being so absolutely furious and utterly disappointed that Lydia has been killed off so early, I decided I needed to! Her character was pure soap gold, wonderfully entertaining - the perfect battleaxe - and rich with hints at an interesting past that could have unfolded. The dynamic between her and Janine, whose character we have followed for years and, whilst deeply damaged and mostly selfish to truly dangerous, was something that was joyful for we the viewers to see. Old angers and silly petty jealousies with various residents could have been unearthed and exposed. Janine had found the ability to experience heartfelt fondness, and the possibility of providing selfless care, for someone who genuinely understood, and unsentimentally loved her. What a shame that this has been wrenched away. Plus, being minxes together, they could have created hilarious mayhem in the Square. The acting of both actresses was utterly brilliant - pathos and humour at it's finest. The scriptwriting represented some of the best that Eastenders has produced - the fantastic put-downs competing with the comic element provided by the fabulous Kim Fox. Ronnie's daughter Danielle was seen as a premature write-off, but that pales in comparison with this horrendous mistake!!

I feel really sorry for vanessa and greg because their partner doesn't love them. I feel really sorry for janine aswell because everyone is accusing her of killing lydia when she didn't because she loved her. I HATE PAT!!

ilove watching eastenders!! every thing about it is amazing the characters, the story line, the drama!!

really feeling sorry for janine, when ever she allows her self to get close to some one she loses them- her mum, her dad, ryan, and now her nan.... to loose someone you love is really sad but then to be told by pat that you have killed her is just plain mean, Ryan can't really talk about killing people, didn't he only come to the square after his mother just because she had the murder weapon he killed some one with? then he has the cheek to have a go at jainine? i mean i do understand why he thinks that.... after all what she done to him, try to kill him, put her self in hospital in order to keep him away from the one person he loves (stacy), maybe all this with janine is just carmar.

p.s. janine your acting is amazing!

Charlie Brooks is incredible the scene in the Vic was amazing. She's starting to go back to the old Janine, please can you make a on set with Charlie Brooks.

I am starting to feel more and more uncomfortable with the scenes involving syed and christian. I am certainly not homaphobic, but feel that they are too much for the time of night that the program is shown, considering it is family viewing. I also find both charactors extremely irritating. I have watched eastenders from the very first episode and find these two charactors in all these years to be the worst. I know not everybody will agree but i felt i had to get my feelings heard.

The only thing I dont like about soaps is when they get too "pantomimey". I dont mind some silliness as its good to have a laugh and I think Eastenders has got a brilliant balance of humour and seriousness. Loving the Janine storyline,but I would love for her to have a bit of luck for once :) lets hope "granny" left her something good!

It would be nice to see Tanya and Max get back together as they are a handsome couple and great parents.. feel sorry for Greg though!!

I feel so sorry for Vanessa she was getting desparate then Max built her courage up now that he's cheated on her he's going to break her heart. Zoe Luker has played it incredibly. Charlie Brooks has to win best actress at next years soap awards Janine is my favourite ever. Please give her a big story line.

Amy Lou, I have to wonder whether you feel the same about the scene last night with Max and Tanya up against a wall? This was certainly far more of a graphic scene than anything they have shown between Christian and Syed. And it was very very sleazy too. I much prefer to watch the portrayal of Christian and Syed's tender and loving relationship than Max having yet another sleazy affair. Each to their own though.

I've really enjoyed this week's episode's, lots of interesting storyline's going on with the exception of Max/Tanya. I generally find affair storyline's dull anyway and it just feels like we've been there, seen that with Max/Tanya. It's good to see all kinds of issues being explored with Christian and Syed's relationship - looks like they're in for a rocky road ahead though but I think they'll get through it all okay. Charlie Brooks has been amazing this week, the Janine/Lydia stuff has been so sad, I can't believe they have killed Lydia off though, she was such an amazing character!

Really enjoyed last nights episode! I feel so sorry for Ronnie, and Max and Tanya can't seen to make their mind up abot eachother can they! Can't wait for Monday!

I'm with you, Laura. I find the portrayal of Christian and Syed's relationship very touching and endearing, as they are the most stable, loving and committed couple in Albert Square at the moment, in my opinion. They never have scenes where they're ripping each other's clothes off, like Max and Tanya were last night, and their bed scene was very similar to one Max and Vanessa shared on Monday, which, as far as I know, attracted no complaints.

Amy lou - if you're not homophobic, why shouldn't gay couples be allowed to share kisses and hugs when straight couples can?

I think Jay and Lauren will get to gether poor Vanessa I just want Mercy deported because she is causing FatBoy so much stress. Billy and Julie's grand daughter is gonna be great but I think Michael will leave after he's found out about Eddie and Carol. But who's Lola's mum?

Sorry but Ronnie is just ruined as a character and there is no hope of her ever returning now as it is Ronnie looking back had no proper counselling after Danielle, and also has not even visited her dead baby's grave since giving Tommy back to Kat and Alfie in April, She seem's to been showing stress which is understandable cause stole a baby which was wicked and inexcusable but she was in the worst state of mind her baby had just died in it's cot for no apparent reason and she had lost Danielle just two Year's ago, who her wicked dad told her she was dead for 13 Year's, She had also been abused and raped at 13, by her father so she was having painful flashback's from that, She has lose three children for once why couldn't they just the Women happy and give her alive baby to love which is what she has always wanted! Honestly it isn't fair I love Ronnie and just want her to be happy! I just hope Whitney who was abused by her stepdad Tony is not now after being abused, Then losing Billie and losing her dad when she was Young also being cheated on with her boyfriend Connor and Stepgran Carol, Then used by another man for sex after having everyone turn against her, then a STI is not another Ronnie, I will say she is the new Stacey and amazing actress!

friday.... i didn't get why abbie, and jay where being mean to lauren about her not having a boyfriend...... does this mean that some one is soon to come in to her life and course alittle bit of drama?

Max, and tana... really happy about them to getting back together but i feel really bad on greg :/ not soo much veness.

really hoping that lauren soon gets a big story line- leading on from friday and the boyfriend thing, i want her to have a little bit of drama on the screen in her characters life.

Three Women have been abused as children Kat, Ronnie and Whitney even though it seem's bit odd Kat forgiving Ronnie after everything she put her through for three month's and making her bury her baby in the ground, and register it as dead baby Tommy and Ronnie registed Tommy as Jame's they both had been abused as children and just after Christmas and during Jack and Ronnie's wedding her and Ronnie were quiet close and were friend's, they both in a way never got to know their children, it was so sad I remember Danielle dying and me crying my eye's out honestly Danielle never really got to development much but she and Stacey had a very good friendship and She for month's was trying to tell Ronnie and was getting close to her, cause she had a job as a queen Vic cleaner, But Ronnie was quiet icy with her, no she had arrived in the October and died in the April. But I still like the fact Kat is not completly going to carry a grudge against her. Don't think I could forgive someone for stealing my baby but this is Eastender's anyway's!

Harri, I'm also wondering who Lola's mum is. Could it possibly be Mandy Salter (who is returning after 17 yrs absence). I never watched the episodes with Mandy but her and Lola sound alike and it gives Mandy an excuse to return after all this time. Could it be?
