Can I request something by Steve Tilston, perhaps King of the Coiners or Pretty Penny from Ziggurat for my children James (5) and Anne (3) who are in the process of folk brainwashing. James in particular really likes Steve and it would give him a real surprise to hear his name on the radio, even if he does have to listen to it on iplayer because it's on after his bedtime!

40 years ago she was top of the pops with "THOSE WERE THE DAYS " after Twiggy heard her sing Pete Seegers "turn,turn turn" on Opportunity Knocks and recomended her to Paul McCartney.The Ö÷²¥´óÐã gave her ,her own show and she even came 2nd in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1970 but her heart was in folk music. In 1971 she recorded for Apple records "earth song /ocean song" guesting on that record was Dave Cousins,Danny Thompson,Ralph McTell . Please could you play Mike ,the beutiful voice of Mary Hopkin singing Ralph McTell's "Silver Birch and Weeping Willow".Listen out for Dave Cousins brilliant banjo playing on the intro and Tony Visconti's great production .

Re request show:
Can i suggest in the light of the arrest of Radovan Karadzic that it would be timely to play Ralph McTell's "Peppers and Tomatoes"? If you can, a small dedication to my brother-in-law Doug in Inverness would be nice as he served in Kosovo and Bosnia and I guess you never lose the scars. No disrespect to Ralph, but Bob Fox's version is what plays in my head!

Hi Mike and all at the show
I know this is a bit cheeky but I'd love it if you could play my song: Miss You on your show.
The song is a special tribute to my Mum who sadly died from Alzheimers disease in March and the song was written for her.

It is a sad ballad full of emotion. It would mean so much to me and my family to get a play and a mention on the show.

I hope you don't mind me asking this, but since it is a request show I thought I'd ask.

You played Ella Edmondson in Tour Bus Tunes the other week.(bella Hardy?) I saw her last year supporting the Rick Sanders Group and she is well worthy of a full track.

I would like to request something by Reg Meuross. Wherever You Go from his Short Stories album. I have been with my partner, Pete, for 11 years and we have two gorgeous children. On 23 August we are getting married and I will be entering the church to this piece of music. Reg's music resonates parts of my life ('Good with his Hands' is a good example) - and he's a great (and versatile) musician - it's beyond my wit why he doesn't get greater recognition. I get to hear him as often as I can, and have done over the past 25 years. The timing of this show is too great for this request not to happen?! Thanks for bringing me closer to folk music. I’d like to hear you play a track from Reg Meuross’s superb new album ‘Dragonfly’. Hard to pick an outstanding track amongst so many, but my choice would be ‘Valentine’. This bleak, contemporary tale of boys with deadly toys and newspapers prepared to present a man’s murder as entertainment to sell more copies also manages to be a tender and intimate love song.

Another song with similar resonance is ‘Good with his Hands’ from the album ‘Short Stories’. I’ve heard Reg play this live many times and it regularly reduces members of the audience to tears. Either there must be a disproportionate number of people present with carpenters for fathers or this song has particular meaning for a post-war generation whose childhoods were marked by their fathers’ experiences whilst fighting for their country.

I am at a loss as to how Reg has yet to receive the recognition he deserves. Compared with his delicate and intelligent compositions, the songs of other, more feted songwriters frequently feel about as subtle as bricks.

Tell you what – why not play both?

A love of listening to stories is part of what it means to be human.
Reg Meuross is a master story teller. The stories he tells on his album 'Dragonfly' draw us in, lull and soothe us and speak to our common humanity. And like all good stories we never tire of them.
This is an album to play again and again.
I would like to request the song 'Fool's Gold' on your programme on August 20th, but I would actually be happy to hear any of Reg's wonderful songs.

I have been an admirer of Reg Meuross, his sweet voice and beautiful songs for over 20 years. I am so pleased he is finally finding the recognition he richly deserves as it's long overdue! There are far too many "favourites" for me to choose from therefore for the purpose of making a request please could you play either Dragonfly or Birmingham Hotel from the current CD, Dragonfly. However, I shall take great pleasure in hearing any of Reg's songs played on the radio. Why not have him play live in the studio or record a session in the not too distant future?
