Hullo Santa Claus! which was billed as the first of television's Christmas programmes in 1948, took viewers to a West-End store to "join the crowd of children meeting Santa Claus, looking at the toys, sliding on the chutes, and riding the racers."
The programme was followed by a visit to Empress Hall at Earls Court for some and the television cameras then returned to the same toy store for a look at the latest
Two years later, a Father Christmas about his "busy day in the toy department of a great London store", and For the Children would do another to be found in shops for Christmas - Sylvia Peters is shown below looking at a furnished doll house.
