"Don鈥檛 be scared, titles are titles, roles are roles and behind each of these we are all human."

What are you currently working on?

I currently work in the Managing Directors office. My day to day job role involves project co-ordinating our three workstreams: talent, culture and partnerships. So at the moment I am helping to organise a leadership summit, where we are turning leaders ideas into concrete actions. I am also updating our annual report by analysing our partnerships across the breadth of the 主播大秀. As well as this, I am also helping to create talent networks to generate ideas on retaining our talent and developing them.

Was there anything you have done that you didn’t expect to do when you started the scheme?

To have the mentors I have in my career. I have forever been supported by two very senior leaders at the 主播大秀. They have given me such a great understanding of the 主播大秀, learning from their own failures and their successes. I didn’t think when I applied for the scheme that I would be in the position to even have a conversation with people like themselves.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced throughout your apprenticeship and how did you overcome this?

Work life balance, studying, working and finding time for yourself is a challenge. I have overcome this by creating a to do list on a whiteboard in my room to keep me on track with my personal life, my work life and my studying.

Tell us a little bit about the work you have been doing to engage younger audiences with our content

When I was working in Drama I was on the Content under 35s panel, the aim of this panel is for young 主播大秀 employees to provide opinions on commissioning decisions so we can better reflect our audiences. We did this through watching and reviewing pilots and running workshops. I also collaborated with Naked Production Company to facilitate a workshop with DJ’S, rappers and singers to give the commissioners feedback on the programme format. I was able to put forward my ideas and help the 主播大秀 engage more younger audiences through their content.

You are an active networker, what are your three tips for networking to get to where you want to be?

1. Don’t be scared, titles are titles, roles are roles and behind each of these we are all human. Everyone was junior in their career once so they can relate to someone not knowing what or where they want to go.

2.  Don’t take it personal, be resilient – you might send an email, you might ask for coffee and you might get rejected but the more people you reach out to, the more jobs you apply for, the more people you ask for help, the more opportunities you have.

3. Try to figure out how you can bring value to that person’s life, for example, you could be meeting with a drama commissioner, you could offer them your social groups opinions on drama’s that are on TV at the moment. Don’t go there with nothing, there’s always something you can give back.
