Back from Bestival!

And it was a corker!...
My first year there, and the sun was shining all weekend. Me and my mate Tom who was doing sound for the Pipettes set off on Friday morning, shared a train with DJ Derek, had fun putting up the tent in the wind, and got very drunk. I saw and heard the groovy Shitdisco, the dark iliketrains, the tapdancing Tilly and the Wall, the brilliant Brakes who have new songs that are genius - Pineapple or Porcupine? being a highlight), Get Cape who rocked the Big Top, The Fall who were on top form - the man himself was on fine form, and Misty's big Adventure, who were just perfect. Found out the big beast dancing onstage is called Erotic Volvo. i like em even more now....
On Saturday i was djing between the bands at the Rock 'n' Roll tent, which was fun. lots of half hour mini-sets playing proper rockn roll and a few modern day guitar hits. the Anthems were brought out later on at night - and I very much enjoyed sets by Metronomy (who'll be touring with Get Cape soon) who were awesome, Kanda Bongo Man which was a highlight, Noisettes, the irresistable Pipettes who i hadnt see play since last Christmas, and the Isle of Wight's very own Bees...
I caught one Pet Shop Boys song, a lot of the wonderful Vetiver, and got a train home on Sunday. The whole experience - the ferry, the food, the folk, is so good - it really is a lot of fun, unlike any other festival. Nice one Mr and Mrs Da Bank!
and now I have a nasty cold after a summer of festivals.

Bestival rocked. Never been to a festival before, have a sneaking suspicion I picked a pretty good one to start with. Never realised ginger beer could clean your teeth or that you can pretty much live on corn-on-the cob and cider. Rob da Bank session off the planet, as was Gogol Bordello and Son of Dave. Hope they managed to find the church windows and hope we didn't keep the cows up too late. Thanks.
hi , well , WOW wot can i say , my 1st festival n wot a stormer brought the sunshine all the way from yorkshire :-) absolutely amazin wknd , so many happy , beautiful people , Annie Mac's set on friday nite was amazin as was ure's truly on sunday nite , hot chip were awesome on main stage my deff highlight of live bands , roll on nxt yr m8y jus WOW !!!!! tis all i can say , jus so much to take in n grasp , the fancy dress was awesome , glad t b a part of it (n famous at last ) ha ha ha ( i was ceaser ) will stay in fancy dress all wknd tho next yr not jus saturday , wot a place , wot people , jus WOW!!!!!!!!!!! :-) WOW!!!
i know its very late but my friends and i are still reminising over the bestival weekend. we are all from the island and i just want to say thankyou so much to the Da Banks for bringing such an amazing festival to the island. it captures the magical essence of the island and what its about. We love it and hope everyone loves the island as much as we do! Just one thing- please dont make it any bigger, i think this year was just perfect in size. any bigger and it'll be like the IoW Festival in July (ugh!)!! Roll on next September! xxx
