You wait for one song with the word 'bovine' int he title, then two come along at once. I'm on about the brilliant Cribs song Our Bovine Public, and a track by Mclusky which is on one of my favourite albums of this year thus far, Curses. just got back from seeing them playing a mighty fine show. First time I saw them in Cardiff two weeks back was great, tonight's show at Water Rats in London was ace also. They're tight, have genius lyrics, and should get recognition soon! And when a member of the audience suggested to singer Andy Falkous "get an office job", you should have heard theminutes of abuse cominf rom the singer's mouth.
Last night I caught Menomena playing a show, a band whos album I really like, another highlight from this year, and then headed to a Shifty Disco night. The Oxford label contine to release great indie records (they brought us the Young Knives first, back in the day), and I saw the end of Brighton's My Device set. Played them a bit on the show, and I saw The Cages headline - their rock n roll demanding attention.
