Put your questions to the Reading & Leeds talent booker

Rich Legate

Introducing online producer

With summer finally peeping out over the horizon, Twitter feeds and music news columns have begun to hot up as festival promoters reveal their plans for the farms, fields and city centres of the UK in 2015. For a festival organiser it’s a mixture of excitement and nerves. The winter months are spent relentlessly negotiating with agents, managing billings and going to gigs. But now, after all the hard work, you get to put the fruits of your labour out there and hopefully ignite frenzied excitement amongst your loyal following of ticket buyers.

Very soon, we’ll excitedly begin unveiling our own plans too, with 主播大秀 Introducing presenting stages at a plethora of fests this summer, including Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Glastonbury, Bestival and Reading & Leeds. With that in mind and knowing that many new acts are so hungry to get valuable festival slots throughout the summer, we’ve welcomed one of the most experienced festival bookers in the country to answer your questions.

INTRODUCING JON MAC

Jon McIldowie, more commonly known in the industry as Jon Mac, joined Festival Republic in 2012. He resides over talent booking for the companies’ Reading and Leeds festivals, which (as if you don’t know already) both take place on what is one of the most important weekends in the UK’s festival calendar. Jon’s booking involves putting together a huge line-up, featuring the biggest names in contemporary music and blending them with up and coming stars from a variety of genres. In 2013, Jon’s first year at the helm of Reading & Leeds booking, the festivals introduced two new stages: the 主播大秀 Radio 1xtra Stage, which showcased the best in UK grime and hip hop, along with the 主播大秀 Radio 1 Dance stage which saw performances from Magnetic Man, A-Trax and Knife Party, to name a few. Since then, Reading & Leeds have continued to promote a broader mix of genres, growing further away from their historic mantra as the UK’s ultimate rock events.

2015 is set to be another big year, you may have seen the unveiling The Libertines and Mumford and Sons as the final two headliners for the event, along with coveted slots for 主播大秀 Introducing alumni Catfish & The Bottlemen, Marmozets and Royal Blood.
