In session for 主播大秀 Radio Scotland: Prides

Presenter

presented themselves to the world earlier this year as an epic-pop trio holding up '80s synths as the Holy Grail. After a string of summer festival dates including , T in the Park and Belladrum as well as a fruitful visit to the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City recently, they've shown no sign of letting up on bringing their anthems to an increasing audience. For this , they arrived with laptop, drums, guitars and those all important synths to showcase 2 original songs and a well-chosen cover version.

Prides - Out Of The Blue

Coming out 'strong', as they described it, with their ubiquitous rallying-cry Out Of The Blue, they immediately demonstrated why they are one of the hottest bands out of Scotland right now. The song was their initial introduction online a few months ago and has been racking up blogosphere plaudits and radio airtime ever since. It was and may see the band follow in the footsteps of fellow Glasgow chart-botherers, . After some chat about influences such as Tears for Fears, Kate Bush and others as well as some background info on the band, they then delivered on their early promise with another pop classic in the making The Seeds You Sow, thankfully showing they're not a one-trick-pony! To finish the session , they decided to knock out a stonking cover of Katy Perry's ROAR... yes my friends, it's true! What is it about indie bands and Katy Perry? Actually I think I know... Anyway, the cover suited them perfectly and garnered serious love from listeners.

Prides - ROAR (Katy Perry Cover)

Prides are undoubtedly a band who could crossover massively, and I can see them doing particularly well in the USA where their stadium-pop will surely find an adoring fanbase. As they formulate a plan for going forward with a unimaginably catchy set of songs that have massive commercial potential, it was great to see them come a perform this exclusive session at this stage in their career. As ever, watch this space...
