Today鈥檚 Memory Tape-r is听Charles Brockbank in London. He has a new puppy. On that note it's over to Charles:

I thought I would offer you up a very recently created Memory Tape.

I've often suggested that my good lady wife send you some of the plethora of mixes I've made for her during our courtship and marriage but she's very busy and it seemed it would be somewhat egotistical of me to send them myself (though naturally they're awesome), maybe someday you'll get those.

Anyway, to the tape I am sending you. It is called Puppies First Playlist and was created in honour of the fact that just last week we acquired a puppy. His name is Marlowe and we collected him from Wells in Somerset last Tuesday. This working cocker spaniel was long promised to my wife and the dream has finally come true. To mark the occasion of collection, I made surprise a mix for my wife, Jess Indeedy, to listen to in the car as we drove from Lyme Regis (where we were holidaying with my family) to Wells to collect our young champion. Enough waffle, here's the Memory Tape in full:

Puppies First Playlist

1. Black Dog / Led Zeppelin

2. Puppy Love / Paul Anka

3. I Wanna Be Your Dog / The Stooges

4. What's My Name? / Snoop Doggy Dogg

5. Gonna Buy Me A Dog / The Monkees

6. Walking The Dog / Rufus Thomas

7. Watching The Detectives / Elvis Costello

8. Diamond Dogs / David Bowie

9. Leave My Dog Alone / Nancy Sinatra And Lee Hazelwood

10. We Are Detective / The Thompson Twins

11. Atomic Dog / George Clinton

12. Hound Dog / Big Mama Thornton

13. Hot Dog, Buddy, Buddy / Bill Haley & His Comets

14. Salty Dog / Johnny Cash

We love him.

Oh, yeah, and his ...

As an additional late entry, this playlist has already started to evolve, as this morning Jess sent me Get Down by Gilbert O'Sullivan as it topically illustrated a current training meme that young Marlowe and our couch are involved in.

One of these days I shall also dig out my mate Simon's tapes that he made for me as teens... for now I'll just tease you with the fact that they were part of a series called "Whoomp! There It Is" Volumes 1-5.
