It’s free music o’clock, and today’s offering comes all the way from Philly, in the shape of ‘Hollow’ by Alex G – a slab of distorted bedroom pop that will bounce around in your head like a ball of elastic bands.
Part time student, part time prolific self-recorder, Alex G (the G is for Giannascoli) is already six albums deep into his world of fuzzy, melodic, gems. ‘Hollow’ is taken from his most recent album, DSU, and whilst it’s his most polished effort to date, it’s still a scrappy, shoegaze-y affair, recalling the best of Elliott Smith and Built to Spill.
