Brown's espousal of 'all the talents' was really 'all the talents that will keep me in No 10'.
Cameron's call for cross-party cooperation, over major issues, is informed by that most urgent of current UK needs: to get Dave into No 10.
Clegg's promise of a 'new kind of politics' arises out of his inability to get a sniff at No 10 while the old sort of politics prevail.

At the next general election, political parties (led by these unworthies - or similar) will expend multi-millions (that have been raised by offering covert quid-pro-quo for quids) mostly in fighting (dirty) with each other. The rest of those war chests will buy some of the most unappealing characters in PR and advertising, to attend ot the defeat reason and discrimination in the minds of selected, significant groups of voters, around the country.

This is the unacceptable face of UK politics; it defines British Democracy that so consummately disenfranchises the helpless voter. It is the Westminster Way.

Who will rid us of this excrement feast?

1.commodity gas prices still dropping [for 4th month]

2. UK regional difference in gas and electricity prices is as high as 28 per cent for the same energy [yorks- humberside being most expensive and the South East the cheapest.]

3. Centrica made 240m profit from 340 m turnover from gas storage [Rough site] which is 70%. Some might think that profiteering?

4. the widespread corruption of initiations becomes an excuse for abuse?

The bail out is a double edged sword. On the one hand we need to steady the Western economic ship and apparently in the long run money will be made by those doing the bailing.

On the other hand as with the Main St/Wall St report the other night many people are unhappy that the perpetrators of the crisis are getting the help and the poor get notices to quit their homes.

Is there any evidence at this stage that some of the financiers knew that this was all a possibility and didn't care or did they get sucked in to believing their own publicity? Thats apart from anybody who did the sort of thing the FBI is looking into right now.

On the US elections I would if I could vote go heavily for Obama. But I wouldn't be sad if McCain won.

But I personally don't think either VP candidate cuts the mustard as a potential President. Palin is a woman so thats good but is she a good candidate? She will be used effectively but I don't see "right stuff".

Possibly with Biden I don't like the fact that he favoured RAPID Nato expansion. I think Georgia and the Ukraine are real potential flash points with no benefit to anybody. If they had gone at a steadier pace there would have been less risk of a loss of diplomatic/political control and events overwhelming us.

Possibly its all so they can spend lots of money on Star Wars II or whatever it is.

Fortunately we get to comment on the US but don't get a vote.

Re the economy:

Perhaps include something on the FT story that MPs' pensions have benefitted handsomely from 'evil' short selling?

Not going to cover that? Oh, I wonder why?

In the reshuffle will Brown deem it vital that Phil Woolas continue his debate on GM?

With apologies to Susan Watts I think he is the only one who thinks there is a debate. The GM lobby lost heavily.

I watched the debate/cosy chat last night and worried about my diabetes problem. What form of debate takes the form of (mostly) mutual appreciation interspersed with showing of teeth and coquettish winks. If that American 'winker' becomes VP, I am going to ask Richard Branson for a ticket off the planet. The gun totin governor makes the term sugar coated 'Palin' to insignificance. OK you, so you have a family? Try bringing them up in Baghdad or Palestine!

Does anybody remember Richard Nixon's disgusting use of strategically placed family photographs etc as he conned the nation?

Barrie (#8) It's all but cheerleaders are just warm-up acts, temporary eye-candy to distract from the pull of Obama's hunky oratory and push of McCain's other qualities. She'll stand aside in time.
