i beleive you had to be invited to attend GAFCON in the first place, just as you have to be invited to attend Lambeth 08. So is it not rude to invite yourself???

we know why O'Neill is there - holding the hand of Jerusalem and making sure he doesnt stray from the TEC path or the finances will be cut off. Would Davis MacIyalla be in any way involved in the 'reporting' which alleged that Akinola etc were responsible for a brutal assault recently which turned out to be 'false' - they had nothing to do with the attack at all.

i think we have here some misinformation by those who wish to deflect the media attention from the main issues of GAFCON

CITCornd says this is an invitation only conference. This is untrue. Gafcon is open to all anglicans willing to travel there and pay the registration fee. The exclusion of Anglicans whose views are unacceptable to Gafcon leadership speaks volumes about this organisation's approach to diversity and democracy.

i think you will find it was by invitation only and none of the people mentioned by the report has tried to gain entry to the conference. Added to which security in Israel is generally tighter than most people (with maybe the exception of tose of us who grew up during the conflict in NI) are used to. every public building has security guards for fear of suicide bombers.

added to which the secular media has focused on the 'homosexual issue' which has been rarely mentioned at the conference - the main issue being the authority of the Scriptures. some of the reporting has been ludicrous and there would appear to be a 'gay promotion agende' with most of the western media, and i include the Ö÷²¥´óÐã radio programmes in that statement. some of the reports border on patronising western media looking down on the global south, especially the African anglicans, and INMHO come across as we know better than you do.

i am not sure the Times, Daily Telegraph or Independent are unbiased in their reporting on GAFCON.

check your facts - i know within the CofI one bishop was asked to invite people to attend - those he inivited would have been deemed 'safe' by the establishment - none of them accepted the invitation to go. Those who are there were invited by GAFCON organisers outside of Ireland, though as Rev Culbertson said on SS he went with the full knowledge of Abp Harper but not as an official rep. of the CofI.

however, will there be bishops from the CofI attending the post GAFCON one day conference at All Souls, London on the 1st July? we will have to wait and see.

i see GAFCON has stated they are not planning schism, but reform from within. Read all about it on Anglican Mainstream site.

also Bp Miller, Down and Dromore, had some very straight talking at his diocesan synod - see CofI website. Connor had its synod this evening but i dont expect Bp Abernethy to be as straight talking as Bp Miller on Lambeth.

Very disappointing that none of the CofI bishops actually attended GAFCON. But then hardly surprising as none of them would be seen as in any way as on the 'conservative' evangelical wing of the Anglican church. Miller and Fanta Clarke being the clearest evangelicals - Good and Abernethy are certainly 'open evangelicals' and both with small (some would say very small) 'e'.
