During my student days I spent any Saturday afternoon when I wasn't following around the country glued to the score update and 390 pages on Ceefax.

So when the opportunity arose for me to ply my trade updating those pages as a freelancer, it made perfect sense.

That was back in 2002.

In the last six years, I've worked on just about every part of from news and feature writing, to match reporting and helping develop .

I'm now part of the Olympics team and among other things, I will help keep this blog ticking over.

It's the perfect antidote to my other life where I'm usually saving the universe from the evil Emperor Zurg as .

Did I mention I have two young sons to keep entertained?
