There's nothing like a hug to make you feel good.

Stevie Morrison turned me down in the mixed zone yesterday saying that he'd rather have a stiff drink after he and Ben Rhodes experienced - so the Mayor of Qingdao got one instead.

He made an impromptu visit to the team hotel last night.

Manager Stephen Park was on 5 Live with Simon Mayo at the time but once he had come off air he dragged me upstairs to the club suite on the eighth floor to meet him.

The Mayor spoke of his plans for the once the games had finished, and outlined his ambitions for the Chinese national sailing team.

He also gave me a special book as a gift.

Downstairs in the basement Morrison was taking his frustrations out on the table tennis table - and anyone else who fancied taking him on!

You can't help but feel their pain.

It's certainly not going to plan in the 49er event but in theory Stevie and Ben can still win a medal - the leading contenders will have to go a little bit mad under the pressure of the Games for it to happen, but it can.

So we can only keep our fingers crossed for them.

There was only one race in the Finn and Yngling fleet yesterday. We're at the business end in these two classes with a healthy lead in both.

It's a different psychology as well when the finishing line is in sight.

Ben Ainslie was telling me that you have to make snap decisions on the racecourse; when normally you would do something else - then suddenly something in the back of your mind is telling you to watch out for the opposition.

He said: "Most other venues are not as hard, but here, with the conditions being so difficult to read, it really is hard because you're not 100% sure that what you are really doing is right in the first place."

You just have to wing it and trust your instinct. Belief and confidence is the key to success.

Sarah Webb shares the same attitude.

The Yngling trio are a very tight-knit group and have clawed their way through their races to put themselves in a gold-medal position. It would be a dream come true for them if they can pull it off.

Webb says that ever since Pippa Wilson came on board they have gone from strength to strength. "The three of us have been fantastic."

Success would be the perfect end to what has been a great adventure for them.

Juliette Ferrington will be reporting on sailing at the Beijing Games. Our should answer any questions you have.
