Euthanasia in the Netherlands

in the Netherlands has been much in the news this year, with doctors having reported 22 "mercy killings" of "terminally ill babies" since 1997 (edit: although, as the 主播大秀 News report goes on to clarify, the cases actually involved babies with "extreme spina bifida"). Now, in a new commentary currently featured on the website of - a US disability rights group that organises opposition to legalised euthanasia,
assisted suicide and other types of medical killing - research analyst Stephen Drake says not only that , but that an increasing number of American medical professionals would similarly "embrace legalization of infanticide based on disability".

Crippled Monkey, thanks for posting a link and description of my article. I have to make a correction, though. Your own intro describes the infants killed in the Netherlands as "terminally ill." In fact, all the "mercy killings" described in the latest article were of infants with spina bifida - which is NOT a terminal illness (unless, of course, someone decides it will *be* terminal by killing the kid.). Cheers.

Spina Bifida now causes constant pain and is grounds for euthanasia? Scuse me while I go WHAT THE F***?!!? OK, maybe they mean anencephaly, which is - well, really quite serious. But even so there's nothing to suggest that it's painful for the baby, although it is seriously life-limiting. FREE OUR LITTLEST PEOPLE!
