I've just been reading a few people's views on the Radio 3 Messageboards. Some are keen on the service, some not. I've had my say. I like it.
What are your thoughts?

The Proms and, up here, the Edinburgh Festival seems to put a premium on visiting orchestras – indeed they are usually the USP of most festivals. Is there any real point in this? Luscious though the Kindertotenlieder was, I can’t think it was any ‘better’ than that I heard with the Halle, the home band, at the Bridgewater Hall when I lived in Manchester. Given that the difference between most of the world’s top orchestras must be fairly marginal, is there much to be gained from paying a premium to inflate ticket prices and add unnecessarily air-miles to global warming? Surely, the message (the music) is The Thing, not the messenger.
