Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd July

As in previous years traditional boats from far and wide will congregate in the historic harbour at Portsoy. The Festival puts a special emphasis on boat building, restoration and sailing and on associated traditional crafts including knitting, weaving and embroidery and on music and art. The 2011 programme will also include the very popular Food Fayre showcasing all that's best in Scotland's food and drink. It all adds up to a feast of opportunities for all to see, take part in and enjoy.


Beech day in Denny

Sunday 3rd July

VOLUNTEERS will be needed on Sunday 3rd July in the beautiful Carron Woods at Denny near Stirling, where they'll be pulling up beech seedlings to prevent them taking over the wood.


Sunday 3rd July

The inaugural sailfish Tighnabruaich Triathlon will take place on the morning of the 3rd July in the beautiful surroundings of Tighnabruaich on the Kyles of Bute.

Saturday 2nd July 10.30am - 4.30pm

At the Balanark community centre. Lots of activities - inflatable gladiators, bucking bronco - face painting and stalls.


Saturday and Sunday this and next weekend - jousting - come and cheer on your favourite knight. The Knights of Royal England are sure to provide a great show once again. Full programme of entertainment each day, culminating in the breathtaking skill and daring of the joust.

Arran Flower Festival

Friday 1st - Sunday 3rd July

A free event, this stunning display of flowers can be viewed from 11am - 4pm during each day of the festival.

Based in the Brodick Church Hall, St. Bride's Church of Scotland, the festival offers some relaxing time for both budding enthusiasts or those who just fancy a wander round.



Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd July

An annual event celebrating the best that the capital has to offer, with stands representing everything from local organic farm produce to Michelin-starred restaurants. This year's event takes place in The Meadows and features 15 restaurants, including Cucina, Ondine and the Michelin-starred Restaurant Martin Wishart and Plumed Horse. Celebrity chefs include Gary Rhodes and Jean-Christophe Novelli.
