Shola Ama and Sarah Jane get busy with DJ Hero.
Yeah yeah yeah. I laughed so much today cos we had Shola Ama and Sarah Jane testing out DJ Hero for us while we were on air. Now Sarah has just started gigging and of course Shola is a well known artist/singer. So this game had a lot of pressure cos we're all a bunch of DJs and fancy our chances.
I had no idea Shola would be so competitive apparently she's already quite an expert at Guitar Hero so she had a big advantage over Sarah. They both choose a Grand Master Flash Hip Hop mix on medium difficulty. Sarah went first and after a few teething problems got into the groove scratching,cross fading and generally looking the part. Then Shola stepped up and totally took control of the machine! If she ever needs a new career then DJ'ing could well be it!!!
So the game play on DJ Hero has me split in two. As a professional DJ I was let down by the fact that all the mixes were pre arranged and you cant import your own tunes. But as a gamer the fun level was intense. Being the the competitive dude that I am when I played it I had to choose the hardest level,now even though you cant actually learn how to DJ some of the mixes on expert are harder than DJ'ing in a club. Cross fading,filtering multi direction scratch inserts and just hitting all the buttons on time is flipping difficult. I must point out that I rated excellent on the entire tutorial and 1st couple of mixes before I had to go to bed.
Don't get me wrong this is a very very fun game but not very accurate when it comes to control. Now I'm a great club DJ but controlling the platter on DJ Hero is a lot harder than a real deck so maybe an update in future can improve it and make it more realistic,but that's enough of me moaning cos Sarah and Shola didn't seem to mind too much as Sarah scored 22500 and Shola scored a massive 28555!!! They then gave it a quick on air review and decided on 3 and a half joysticks out of 5.click on the widget below to listen to the the girls getting busy on the decks!!!! holla
