I鈥檝e played golf for about 20 years, starting off poorly, becoming marginally less bad, and now struggling to maintain the 18 that I pretend I鈥檓 off.
The days of 54 holes followed by a quick round of 鈥渃ross-country鈥 in the dark are long gone.
As a kid I jumped onto Seve鈥檚 moving golf cart to get his autograph in the 1985 Open at Royal St George鈥檚, won by Sandy Lyle, and I also went to the historic Ryder Cup win at The Belfry the same year.
The best bit about that 鈥 other than Europe winning for the first time in a thousand years - was a couple of blokes careering into the lake in front of the 18th as the crowd rushed up the fairway behind the last group.

You can understand Bjorn's distress, having battled hard in numerous competitions to earn his place in the team. However, wildcard places are just that. The captain has the choice to make and shouldn't have to justify himself to other players or the press.
Bjorn was obviously very enthusiastic about playing in the European team but how helpful have his comments been for the side? His childish display has created doubts about the captain and piled pressure on Lee to perform. A team player?
