Am sure you have some great points to make. Avoid the Oirishisms such as the 'Irish Stew' remark- I am sure it would make you a lot more credible and a lot less patronizing !!

If we are to be seen as worthy of such a great event as the Ryder Cup, then we must be above problems like this.

You don't need to be a genius to know our weather is unpredictable, and "hard standing" areas should be provided for parking, with contingencies in place should they be required.

That said, if this is all we have to worry about this week then I for one will be quite happy.

C'mon Europe (in particular the Irish lads)!

Sounds to me that you have a point about the bus queues, why check everyones id at that point, surely that can be done once you get to the gate...

With regards to the match itself, if its going to be wet and windy for the next few days surely the teams should be out getting used to it, what a bunch of jessies they are.

As an Irishman who attended the 2002 (postponed 2001) Ryder Cup at the Belfry I can sympathise with you Rob. The organisation was tragic in Birmingham, the security checks were rigorous and there were even fights amongst spectators getting back onto the park'n'ride buses. But that was only on the Thursday practice day. Come the Fri-Sun play days, it was great. I'm sure it will be at the K Club too. I hope you enjoy your time, I genuinely do because I want this to be a success for our country. Be thankful that you are a privileged journalist being paid to report on one of the world's greatest sporting events that spectators are paying hundreds of pounds to attend. And good luck Europe!

Sorry that the long range wheather forecast was not able to predict the remains of a Hurricane battering Ireland maybe it would be better if we just had multi story carpark every where.

If this fella had any idea on how to organise an event particularly out doors he may understand that there are variables that cannot be planned for one of these is the wheather. At least we did have a back up of punchestown so it shows the organisers are not completely inept as the above story makes out.

It's The Belfry all over again, when the public car parks were located at The NEC, 15 miles from the course !

The sponsors and VIPs were able to use the facilities at The Belfry, whilst as usual the ordinary fans were treated with contempt

I feel compelled to write in support of Robs comments. Far too often the organizers of these types of events place the paying punter at the bottom of their list of priorities and it is the likes of Rob who will bring notice to this and get things improved. All this talk about "well you can't predict the weather" is clap trap. I mean ... late September in Ireland? Come on.

This event generates a huge amount of revenue and guess what, no prize money. You would think they could spend a little more on say a few more buses and a few more staff to check IDs. There are no excuses. That aside, the K club looks a fantastic venue, come on Europe!

Had a great day out yesterday at the K Club, but....
Obviously was not a 'once-in-a-lifetime' experience for Team USA.
Didn't they realise many people had travelled many miles, stood for hours in the rain in queues that moved at a snails pace and waited for ages on them to tee off. GO EUROPE I say now...
What a difference they were. Signing autographs and posing for the cameras. Well done to all the European team and good luck over the weekend.
By the way, Darren gave my son his golfball coming off the 18th...made our day....

Call me stupid but golf in September in Ireland...... surely means rain at some point???? 40,000 people attending the event each day. so lets park them in a field??? I have no experience in planning a event of this magnitude, but it doesn't take a genious to see that this is costly mistake.
I hope it goes well for the remaining days ( the rain stays away ) and come on Europe!!

Sorry to hear you had bad experiences yesterday but I found the park and ride in Weston Airport top class. Yes there was a small queue at the start but that would happen anyhwere if 15,000 turned up a the same time.

As for checking ID at the buses, thats a good idea as you would have chaos if you checked them at the ryder cup and the idiots that forgot to bring them would be turned away and cause mayhem!

Congratulations on a narrow minded piece of journalisim. I remember the Ryder cup at the Belfrey and the problems there I also remember missing the Grand Prix at Silverstone because of poop organisation?

The Venue and organisation for this competition has been amazing and the unpredictable weather has thrown a curve to organisers which they have quickly solved!! By the way the poor use of cheesey Irish phrases degrades the 主播大秀 otherwise high Standards!!

Rob, I heard you on Newtalk last night and I felt you were being very diplomatic to us and our inability as a nation to organise transport, be it public or private etc.. Thank you for highlighting this.

Hopefully, once this problem is shown to the worlds media our politicans might be shamed into doing something. Till then all you can do is to tell it like you see it, and pity a nation.

I was there yesterday. The main reason for the hold ups was due to health and safety caused by the high winds. Most of the peolple there accepted this and got on with enjoying the Europeans. The USA were a disgrace, surely the paying public deserve to see them play golf not pretending to be "team building"...
On the comment from Andy about parking in a field. The event is on in a golf course in the country side. Where exactly are they supposed to find a tarmac area for 40,000 visitors... They had fields, it was the only option. But they also had numerous vehicles lined up to tow any cars that were stuck... Need we think back to the debacle of the Silverstone Grand Prix a few years ago?

Sounds lyk a nightmare m8, but at least u can enjoy Europe once again teaching the Americans another lesson and thus retain the Ryder Cup.

Just want to say that he does have a point re: car parking.
I was at the Irish Open (?) in the K Club a few years back (to see Mr. Woods, in fact) and the rain bombed down. The so-called "car parks" were total quagmires. Loads of cars had to be towed.
The point is that the K Club is more than aware of the effect of rain on the parking and they should prepared for this better.
