24th May sees one of contemporary music's most influential singers and songwriters, Bob Dylan, celebrate his 70th birthday. The man from Minnesota who was inspired by Woody Guthrie and Hank Williams penned some of the best known, and most frequently covered songs of the twentieth century. As early as the mid sixties his compositions were already being recorded by The Byrds and The Turtles, and it's been claimed that The Beatles' shift toward introspective song-writing in the latter half of their career, would never have happened without him ().

Throughout his career Dylan has been both a folk and country singer, political activist and more recently a radio DJ. One of the reasons for his continued popularity through the decades is that his songs are timeless. Tracks such as and are as relevant today as they were when he wrote them.

So for the next couple of weeks the Ö÷²¥´óÐã are paying tribute to the great man. On television, radio and online, across all the networks you'll find Dylan features and programmes. Here's just a small sample, you can find the full list on the Ö÷²¥´óÐã Schedule.
