The closure of Ö÷²¥´óÐã Switch

Hellooo my Lords and Ladies of The House of Cutlets,*

Just a small little update from me about the recent announcements around Ö÷²¥´óÐã Switch as I know a few of you are unsure what it means for The Cut.

The other day, the Ö÷²¥´óÐã Trust announced that Ö÷²¥´óÐã Switch will close in December, meaning that our TV and online zones will end. Of course, we're all really sad about this as we love Switch but let's not forget - there's a whole six months before the closure happens. It ain't over yet!

We're going to be working super hard across Switch to bring you the best possible content for the next few months and I can reveal that series three of The Cut will DEFINITELY be going ahead. In fact, we've already started writing it!

Of course, no one really knows what's going to happen to The Cut after Switch closes, but what we can say is that we've got some of the most exciting storylines of The Cut so far coming your way in the near future. So fasten your seatbelts and hold on tightly because the The Cut train is full steam ahead... err. Or something less cheesy.

Feel free to let share your thoughts about what's happen to Switch here and of course we'll let you know more info as soon as we have it.

Vicki x

*I felt that a fitting opening for my 'serious speech', but on reflection it probably wasn't.

I know the Switch websites won't be updated any more, but will they still be accessible? Most Ö÷²¥´óÐã pages are left for reference purposes.

I'm sad Switch is going, the shows were quite funny. I think it's just the time; who watches TV at 12 in the afternoon on a Saturay? I'm always out!

  • Comment number 3.

Oh and by the way, if there's no more Switch and The Cut ends, there'll be no more repeats, so the need for a DVD release is now dire!

  • Comment number 4.

Oh my gosh! I am furious! I am going to do something I don't know what but I am not going to sit here and just take that the cut is leaving and were going to get the best stuff for 6 months!

Is it 100% definite Switch is closing? Because in the initial conclusions of the Strategy Review, it said the decision to close Switch would be left to the Ö÷²¥´óÐã Executives, but does that basically mean they're just going to close it anyway? I really hope there's some way Switch can be saved! :(

Btw thanks vicki for the conformation about the cut it was much appreciated. Is there any chance that you could give a contact for who we should get in touch with to see if there is anything we could do to save the cut?! and switch in general?

wow it really sucks in December its gunna close!! :(
    im sad now :(
We need to save the cut, they need to put it on the Ö÷²¥´óÐã prime schedule!

btw why did u bring in Isla when she will be out of a job by the end of the year? :S

  • Comment number 9.

I agree with George DVD release would be a good consideration, if the Ö÷²¥´óÐã is so strapped for cash, release the cut series on DVD to recoup some money, coz i would sure buy it, and im sure many others would as well!

  • Comment number 10.

Has anyone else noticed how political this blog has got in the last couple of months?

  • Comment number 11.

    George - In what way?

  • Comment number 12.

Hmm - I just think originally everyone was just gossiping about The Cut storylines, and now we're debating more important things, like how to save The Cut from being cancelled, bringing out a DVD release and which member of the cast can eat the most Jaffa cakes. But all that's not necessarily a bad thing. We've got power!

    Omg! i could atually cry,
its soo unfair that the cut might be gone after decemeber i cant believe it and even if they choose to close bbc switch down, it dosen't mean the cut has to end aswell!!!
im so upset about this. The cut is like the best programme ever! it cant possibily end!

  • Comment number 14.

oh and.. surely vicki and the switch crew can find a way to save switch and the cut :)

Torie - Join the club, We need to find out what we can do? My mum said to email the Ö÷²¥´óÐã Trust and make a complaint and say that there is a market for the cut but!? Who knows wether we can make a difference?

  • Comment number 16.

sad times :( does this mean that we'll never be able to see The Cut ever again?

  • Comment number 17.

Can't they make a Cut website seperate from the Ö÷²¥´óÐã and post the Cut episodes on there??? :(

  • Comment number 18.

@MusicGirl320 it sounds like a good idea to save the cut, we should try it and see what happens? if more people try it maybe we can save the cut and bbc switch hopefully :)

  • Comment number 19.

;( Why don't they put the Cut on another channel? At a better time???? Or is that not possible? We should make an online petition to save it? And write a letter? There is definitely a market for it somewhere...

  • Comment number 20.

    @Haveabiscuit

    1) Great name I think I will need a cup of tea and a biscuit to calm me down soon.

    2) I have created a letter and am going to send it off to bbc trust I have asked for advice on hopefully helping to save the cut and bbc switch in general. I don't think they can move the channel it seems unplausable.

    :)

  • Comment number 21.

Well, obviously not a completely separate channel, but Ö÷²¥´óÐã One would be good, or if that's unfeasible, Ö÷²¥´óÐã Three.

  • Comment number 22.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO What can we do to help save The Cut?? x

  • Comment number 23.

Couldn't The Cut be turned into some form of Youtube venture? Like posting the episodes online- meaning that past episodes can be watched again, and again, and again (you get the picture). Then, again, there is a small matter of finance...

Oh, I do love how passionate we are about this. :)

  • Comment number 24.

Do the Ö÷²¥´óÐã own the rights to The Cut then? If not perhaps whoever does could move it to another site and use advertising for revenue?
If so SOMEONE NEEDS TO BUY THE RIGHTS!!! Don't wanna see it go :(

  • Comment number 25.

I'm definitely upset about the closing of the switch, but mostly the unsecured fate of the cut. I've been hooked on the cut since yesterday, and was up until the early hours on my laptop. I have two suggestions for the Ö÷²¥´óÐã and the producers of the show. A) Advertising. B)Availability

I remember seeing a poster of Tommy in a magazine, but that's about it. I stumbled on it yesterday flipping channels. Other than that i'd never ever ever heard of it. Why no adverts? I'm sure so many others would watch. I've googled the actors, Matt Kane in particular ;) but found jack. honestly they need more press, or something! I absolutely adore the tv show and I'm sure others would. I'm shocked I couldn't find a facebook group...

I hate hate hate the bbc i player. Although i'm English, I actually live in Cyprus and I can't watch anything, therefore I cant spread the show to my friends :( And I'm certain they'd love it. We tend to use websites such as yidio or surf the channel to watch tv shows but obviously the cuts not there....

They really need to work on this. And please somebody read this and give us an email or something to contact..

  • Comment number 26.

Please release The Cut on DVD!

  • Comment number 27.

Please put it on dvd else the episode will just dissapear and I won't have my tommy fix :'(
