On this week's Newswatch, the programme which discusses viewers' complaints about Ö÷²¥´óÐã TV News, Amanda Bruckshaw, duty weekend editor, responds to accusations that the Ö÷²¥´óÐã weekend news bulletins ignored a protest staged by 12,000 doctors.

Controller of News 24, Kevin Bakhurst, defends the channel’s use of the term "Breaking News". You can watch the programme by clicking here.

This program and Feedback on Radio 4 are appaling aelf-adverts for the Ö÷²¥´óÐã. No-one that the Ö÷²¥´óÐã puts on these programs ever admits that a mistake was made or an error of judgement that is evident to the nation ever happened.

I am a complete fan of the Ö÷²¥´óÐã and its independence. I would have gladly paid the increased fee that they wanted as I use the websites, radio (DAB & FM/MW), watch all the Ö÷²¥´óÐã channels and enjoy its output. Apart from Eastenders and other such drivel but I accept that others like it and I can't be happy with all the output.

But I get really annoyed at these self-serving, grandiose back-patting excercises known as Newswatch and Feedback. Mistakes do get made in the Ö÷²¥´óÐã. I just hope one day that someone in the Ö÷²¥´óÐã has the courage to stand up and say - I got it wrong.

The Blogs, by the way, are just as annoying for the same reason.
