THAT AMAZING TOY VIDEO

Post categories: ,Ìý,Ìý

Tom Robinson Tom Robinson | 11:06 UK time, Tuesday, 14 September 2010

I've been raving on air for several weeks about this video - by London five-piece for their song "Toy" - that they made with nothing but a security camera and a plastic train set. Though of course it wouldn't be interesting at all if the song itself wasn't drop-dead gorgeous... Frontman Tom Grundy has just emailed through a bit more background info...

"It's an idea I'd wanted to do for ages" he says "to make instruments and people look like giant builings moving passed outside a window. It's literally a Hornby Railway set with a camera as one of the carriages. Given the song is called 'toy' it seemed like the right theme.Ìý We very nearly pulled the project as it's so low-fi. It's filmed at which was a beatuful vintage studio full of old instruments until it recently closed - which is why the video is an honage to the place. The drum kit in the video was one of Ringo's."

"Toy" was Toodar's debut single from last year. This dense, beautiful new version was recorded at Goldtop, co-produced with who then joined the band as a result. They're launching the song, together with some other newly recorded songs in London at the on Sunday 26 September 2010. For more info see
