TRACKLISTING. SUNDAY 12/06/2011
Why does so much great music come from Brighton? Does the seaside air breeed great musicians, or do great musicians gravitate there because of the seaside air. Ben Nicholls aka comes into the latter category and has been inspired (perhaps by by his new environment) to write his greatest single to date. 's wildly original electronica on the other hand seems to have sprung out of the very landscape of the South Downs. And barging their way back onto the show came - we enjoyed High Brow, Low Brow, No Eyebrow so much last week we had no choice but to play it again. And fine songwriter may be Scots in origin, but she too has somehow ended up embedded in the bohemian Jewel Of The South Coast.
MCs Bluzey and Swift-Lee aka made a welcome visit to the studio to fill us in on us in on their future plans, give us a glimpse behind their , and spilt the beans on their most immediate and exciting news - their upcoming Glastonbury debut on the Ö÷²¥´óÐã Introducing stage this month on the Saturday afternoon. From Ö÷²¥´óÐã Wales Bethan brought us another delightful track - this time from from . Horns a plenty and yet again in the show more psychedelic flavours to swirl one back to the 60’s. And brought us the youngest artist ever accorded the accolade of being 1XTra's Ö÷²¥´óÐãgrown Download of the week. RJ has already been making music for 4 years, but had no upcoming news or events to plug for the simple reason that - being 13 years old - he'll be at school for the forseeable future.
Thanks in no small part to the tireless efforts, energies and enthusiasm of from Ö÷²¥´óÐã Hereford & Worcester, Cheltenham's featured an official Ö÷²¥´óÐã Introducing stage again for the second year running. He sent us two cracking live tracks recorded there by our old friends from Redditch. Having watched them grow as a recording project over the years, it was terriffic to hear them transformed into a tight and punchy live four piece propelled along by a cracking drummer.
And in a feature borrowed from NowPlaying@6Music (my Friday Suppertime show on 6 Music) we heard from guest contributors Adam and Parri from . They share 6 Music's enthusiasm for whose has been supported here over the past few weeks. As usual you can find all the artists featured in the show via the links below - or for the next 7 days hear the whole thing in full on the Ö÷²¥´óÐã iPlayer.
