Llwyth begins new Chapter for Sherman Cymru

presents a provocative new Welsh language play, the first production since the closure of the theatre building in Cardiff for the planned redevelopment of the site.
Llwyth, Tribe in English, is written by Dafydd James and tells the story of a group of gay friends out on the town on the night of a rugby international match in Cardiff. The play follows the exploits of the group, and sees how loyalties are challenged when a new face joins the proceedings.

The play stars Simon Watts, Danny Grehan, Paul Morgans, Michael Humphreys and Siôn Young. It is directed by the theatre's associate director Arwel Gruffydd.

Writer Dafydd James commented: "This being my first Welsh language play, my experience and notion of being Welsh and part of a Welsh-speaking culture has played a critical role in the work's development.
"The old Welsh heroic poetry of Y Gododdin was a key inspiration as were nights out in Cardiff as a gay man. I wanted to explore what it means to belong to a 'tribe' in modern day Wales."
Llwyth runs at between 15 and 24 April, with surtitled performances on 20 and 23 April. The production then tours various locations across Wales before moving on to the in London. Visit the for more information.
