You can hear this week's celebration of the most interesting new Welsh music via the iPlayer at the link below until next Sunday evening (2 May).

This week's show features an all too brief tribute to influential Welsh musician Bern, of Elfyn Presli Ac Y Massey Fergusons, who died on Sunday morning. Our sympathies to all those who knew him and were inspired by his music and charisma.

Elsewhere, we have something very special for you: a full (and very rare) live set from modern psychedelic folk troubadours, Soft Hearted Scientists. It's a set that encompasses highlights from their three albums so far (Uncanny Tales From The Everyday Undergrowth, Take Time To Wonder In A Whirling World and Scarecrow Smile), as well as a début performance - in its entirety - of their forthcoming album, Wandermoon (all albums on Cardiff's My Kung Fu label).

If you've stumbled across the show at any time over the last 8 years, you'll know I'm besotted with Soft Hearted Scientists. Their music is hidden waterfalls, owls hooting over mountain lakes, gloaming folktales told to campfire embers, all illuminated by meteor melodies and stardust arrangements.

Huw Williams rolls away the stone on some new wave of Welsh heavy metal from back when iron on patches in dodgy Germanic fonts were de rigeur. He reminds us of Persian Risk. And I get to play a track off an album with a battleship on it. Seemingly painted by an 11-year-old. Weird.

Lara Catrin translates a piece of singalong joy popcorn from Mr Huw, only to reveal that it's not 'singalong joy popcorn' after all (my entry for the Bad Musical Analogy Award).

The Music Database Formerly Known As Soundhog (aka. Ben Hayes) braves a dip into the '80s to bring us sonic inspiration.

And there are great new tunes from, amongst others, the Spencer McGarry Season, Friends Electric, Jemma Roper and Kid For Today.

Demos/gig info/hellos and cockle offs to themysterytour@gmail.com + a short biography & contact number.

Happy listening.

Thank you/diolch yn fawr iawn.

Adam
