Duffy to quit music?

It is being reported that Duffy is quitting the music industry, following disappointing sales of her last album Endlessly.
Duffy
reports a 'pal' of the singer saying: "She's really down about the last album, Endlessly. It didn't sell well and charted terribly and she isn't trying again and making a comeback.
"She wants to have a quiet life and start over. Duffy made a truckload of cash with the first album and through her endorsements with Diet Coke, so she's comfortable and able to enjoy some down-time. She's not got management right now and has met a few people about taking over. But she's just not interested."
Her first album, Rockferry, sold over eight million copies and was the top international seller of 2008, but Endlessly, released last year and co-written with Albert Hammond Sr, has sold very poorly. In the interim, she separated from her original management team and the songwriters who brought her to wide attention, including Suede's Bernard Butler and 60ft Dolls' Richard Parfitt.

I personally enjoy Duffy's music but I can understand why some may not. But I cannot understand how you could possibly have equated the criticism by John and AlexisWolf as being "Typical English" simply from their usernames unless that chip is clouding your view of the world....

She had dumped a lot of the people who helped her make it between albums and hadn't moved on, I can remember the first time I heard her single "well, well, well" or whatever it was called and thought to myself, 'what...more of this?!'
That 1960's poor mans Amy Winehouse sound was only going to be popular for so long and she has to take some of the blame for not attempting to update her sound.

I really hope she doesn't give up now. Many stars have bad sales. Just re think your strategy Duffy, get with some decent Management and write songs with Eric stewart. You will be fine.

She needn't worry, even Joe McElderry won X Factor just over a year ago and his album and single were promoted endlessly, yet it didnt exactly set the music world alight. Yet Olly Murs who came 2nd goes from strength to strength.

For Ceinwen's information, I am not Welsh born but I have lived in N. Wales longer than anywhere else, have been termed 'Welsh' by my Welsh friends and have played bass and helped write the tunes in a Welsh language indie band. Nationalistic hotheads do not do the Welsh culture any good, they just serve to isolate themselves and the culture which they purport to represent.
