Time to get polished up

Julie Howatson-Broster Julie Howatson-Broster | 09:43 UK time, Sunday, 4 May 2008

The tv crew arrived this week to film 'normality' in our household. I don't know how they expect you to 'act normal' when there's a camera following you around everywhere.

I`ve got to be honest, I did spend a couple of days blitzing my house before they were allowed in! (As if you would let thousands of people into your home without getting rid of dirty washing and not cleaning the toilet!) My house isn't usually that clean and tidy, I promise you!

Despite our privacy vanishing for the day, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The kids were so well-behaved on camera. They usually arrive home from school and start annoying each other immediately. I think we need to arrange for the camera crew to baby sit more often!

Local friends and family have realised by now that I'm taking part in this exciting new series with Iolo Williams. It's so funny when I ask if they know Iolo they usually reply with "oh, the one with the nice legs" or "the one with the shorts"! Obviously, his legs and shorts are now his trade mark (a little like Charlie Dimmock and her 'trademarks'.)

I also had the lovely Mel (video producer) come round this week to explain how to use the handycam to start preparing our video diary. Wow, we've had fun with this! The kids have been on it constantly making their own little scripts and we have had such a laugh watching over the mistakes and the truly horrendous clips.

At the moment, I`m not too sure how to edit certain clips, so I have a feeling that the awful ones will remain on the tape for Mel to start editing (let`s just hope she does edit them and that they don't appear on the screen for thousands to view!)

Anyway, that's enough of my rambling for one day. Going to start packing now ready for the adventure to start with Iolo in a couple of days! More importantly, my toes and hands need polishing and my eyebrows are a true disgrace!
