As a local history fan I have to admit more than a passing curiousity about the former WWII secret weapons site, Rhydymwyn Valley Works. I mean, isn't it amazing to think that Churchill chose a site on our doorstep to manufacture weapons and help with research into the atomic bomb. Have you heard about PC Ken Sinclair from North Wales Police who was honoured last night as one of the UK's most community-minded bobbies? Basically, he learned Polish due to the rising numbers of migrant workers in the Wrexham & Flintshire area - and it led to him identifying a number of people with links to organised crime in Poland.

TV viewers have voted to spend 拢50,000 of lottery money on a community project called 鈥淥ur Backyard, Our Community鈥 which will see a stretch of open land in Bistre, known locally as the Flash, developed into a youth shelter, multi-use games area and play area. I took my family to see the Party with Pudsey concert at Colwyn Bay on Friday night and we weren't disappointed - despite the rain. The Feeling were fantastic and Jamelia certainly warmed us up though she must have been freezing in that outfit! You can now watch highlights online, plus find out what locals have been up to for Children in Need this year, like one schoolboy who kissed all the girls in his class to raise 拢15. I'm unsure whether he paid for the privilege but a clever idea, don't you think?

Ronan Keating, The Feeling and Jamelia are the first three acts to confirm they'll be performing at the Party for Pudsey Children in Need concert on November 17. This year the free concert is being held in Colwyn Bay and not Wrexham. Tickets are available free online.
