Nasty habits

LONDON - This time next week I鈥檒l be on my way to Germany with Ricco in our camper van.
Not knowing Ricco all that well, it will be the point at which we start to discover things about each other that will have a profound say on how the next five weeks pan out.
Does Martin snore? Does he like ? Is he always awake breathtakingly early? Has our Safe Driver course impressed on him the urge to suppress his boy racer instincts?
Conversely, I鈥檓 sure that Martin, who is currently enjoying some pre-trip time away with his wife, has similar concerns.
My father has a key ring with the motto 鈥淣obody is perfect except me鈥 inscribed on it. Unfortunately for Ricco, son does take after father in this regard.
One week from departure and there is still plenty to sort out.
For starters, the company that we are renting the off has sold the vehicle we were scheduled to hire.
This means that we will no longer be in a mobile home converted for disabled people, which was the last one available when we made the booking.
The upside to this is that they are supplying another mobile home, apparently one that will be "much better suited" to our requirements.
We pick it up on Monday and will find out just how super dooper it is then.
There has also been a bit of teething trouble with our laptops, which is hopefully now sorted though I have this nightmare vision of reaching Germany and everything going, well, kaput.
On the positive side, it looks as though we will be popping in on Chris Moyles, who will be based somewhere close to Stuttgart.
He seems to have the X-Factor - I wonder if Ricco does?

Will your camper van be sporting the St Georges cross like every other vehicle?
By the way I am in Indonesia but I am assuming there are England flags fluttering on every car as previous years.

I think the 主播大秀 Team is ready. I am ready. Here in Miami Florida, I am teh one of the few [in the Cuban Community] who loves football. I started my World Cup Era with the CD released by Hank and Pank for MUST [Manchester United Supporters Trust] : "We're Number One".
I am also listeneing to the Latin Football Anthem "Arriba Arriba" recorded by the Mexican Singing Stars Ana Barbara, Mariana Seoane, Pablo Montero with the Dominican Singing Sensation Anais [I recommend this also].
I also have in my office the photo of Damarcus Beasley [one of the members of the US Football Team] playing in the World Cup 2006.
Everything else will sort itself.
LET THE WORLD CUP BEGIN !!!!!!!!!

I must applaud your enthusiasm for this tournament. I get the feeling that you just cannot wait to it to start.
One, thing, though. Why are you supporting Brazil?
And as for Following England - there will be no George Cross on the side of our van. I imagine that to some, such a flag would resemble a great big target.

Well certainly in my neighbourhood there are loads of cars carrying the flag. There's also a fair amount that drive through town.

Hey,Paul im from Preston and have read your column many times commenting on your away days with our fantastic fellow "northenders" whats your opinion on Mr Davies leavin and will you be travelling to Gelsenkirchen quite early on in the tournament as me and a pal are going out for what will hopefully be our Q/F match there,and was wondering if you could give us the lowdown on the place before we landed...Victory!!

Hello - I have two comments and one suggestion to make to Fletch and Ricco:-
Comment 1. : I found it very difficult to find my way round the blog pages - nowhere could I find the proper way to make 'new' comments rather than just reacting to comments already made. Probably an age thing!
My Suggestion: I heard on the television that you wanted suggestions as to where to go and who to visit whilst in your camper van going round Germany. As a Youth Worker in the late seventies and early eighties I was involved in taking teenage football teams from Rowlinson Youth Centre, Sheffield to Langendreer '04 Sports Club, Bochum, Germany as part of a Cultural Exchange programme. These were extremely successful. I would like you to revisit the '04 Club on our behalf during the World Cup to re-aquaint some of the older members of each football team with each other and to remind everyone how football really is a common language and to porovoke some of the fantastic memories we all shared together over many years with probably hundreds of young people. Maybe we could join both of "the old members" of the Clubs together on live television?

Jason - not sure what to make about Billy Davies jumping ship. Would not have minded at all if he had gone to Charlton, but it won't be easy seeing him in the away dugout at Deepdale next season.
What concerns me most is whether this will signal the break up of the team. Claude Davis for Sheff Utd?
I don't think we are going to Gelsenkirchen but we will be in Dortmund, which is just next door. Look out for our blog entries.
As for Frankus - if you are looking out for our mobile home and spot one that is coloured green and gold rest assured it is not ours!
