Hi Ross,

Great picture. What's the best goal in the WC you've seen and captured on film?

This photo looks awesome. I'm an avid photographer looking to purchase a camera soon, as usually I take photos with my phone. It's obviously not ideal but I get some great shots. See my site for a link to my photo's archive.

What sort of photographic kit do you use? Shooting from the stands would require a variety of super zooms I would imagine. Also are you in with the crowd?

Nice piture. I've been thinking of a career change and would love to be a press/ sports or any similiar kind of photographer. Got any tips on how I can take a step in the right direction of a career in press photography

I love that picture ... it makes him look like a cartoon character. Like how the Road Runner in the old Loony Tunes cartoons used to whirl his legs around like that.

I will echo the thoughts of others who have seen this photo and say great photo and job well done.

I would like to know what shutter speed you would have used to get the effect of motion but still retain the focus of Ronaldo's head and torso (I understand it would have to be quite slow but what sort of speed?) Is there any where to view this picture in a larger format?

the photo in this blog could not be taken in the 2002 world cup, because the jerseys of brazil was diffferent in 2002. you can see it very clearly if you check out the following web site; [especially, picture no.5]

I love this shot and too would like to see a better resolution version if possible. Can't wait to see what Ross produces from this years tournament.

Harun's right, did you actually take photos at the World Cup in 2002, or were you indulging in a bit of ball watching...?

I guess the shutter speed should be around 1/500 and aperture not more than F8 and could have used a filter to remove excess white light in the stadium.
Please let me know if my guesses are right

Yes, the photo was indeed taken in 1998. well spotted.

If you look at the message at the start if the page you will notice that it wazs taken in 98.

Ronaldo is a class player but certinlty does not have feet like the image suggests but kudos for your creativity...

Great movement - nice panning too (keeps torso in focus while grass/limbs blur in answer to earlier query). Incidentally I met Ross Kinnaird's scouser photographic assistant the other day - and congratulated him on his fabulous car. He said,

'Thanks, I work for Kinnaird'.

I said I worked extremely hard too, but doubted I could ever afford a car like that.

Great Picture, I've been fan of your pictures for a long time. I was nice to see some of your pictures from Germany in the national papers this week. Please could you explain to me why sometimes the national papers seem to use the same picture on their back page, but each paper has a different photographer credited underneath the same picture?

hi ross seen you name in a few national papers,bylines a bit scarce in the tabloids but they must be yours ,but seem to have others peoples names on .During the last World cup there were some fantastic colorful pictures with players holding giant flags,could we see more of these or is it just the newspapers that think of these wonderful ideas

Hello Russell, just seen your byline in the Guardian today. Very nice picture taken by you of other photographers taking pictures of David Beckham. Why do you take pictures of other photographers taking pictures of footballers, is it because those photographers won't let you take the same picture????
