Is it harder than ever to be a kid today?

That's what we are wondering. At this point in the morning it is customary to lay out some story ideas and then ask you what you think?

There are a few interesting topics about, and there appears to be a common thread through a few of them. Childhood. So we thought we might explore this today, but, if you have any other issues you want to talk about, please contact us using the post from below.

In the UK, and a growing number are suffering from mental illness. They blame the pressures of marketing, junk food and video games.

At the same time, the charity Save The Children say that worldwide, .

The organisation says that in the Democratic Republic of Congo alone, five million children are currently unable to attend classes.

What about Uganda? The Lords Resistance Army, a rebel group that has been fighting the government in northern Uganda for 20 years, has agreed, as part of a peace deal, to release the women and children they have been holding. They have been accused of abducting thousands of children during the long conflict.

Also in the news today:

- with Syria and the US at odds over the recent conflict in Lebanon, the two certainly do not get on. In fact, the US accuses Syria of supporting the insurgency in Iraq and not doing enough to prevent weapons going to Hezbollah militants in Lebanon. So, on one hand, it is accused of supporting terrorists, but today, has just defeated a "terrorist operation" - just whose side is Syria on?

Ever controversial, her concert is to be held tonight in Moscow amid tight security after protests from Orthodox church outraged by her religious depictions, threats from the mafia and terrorists apparently. Are you going to the concert? What is the big deal about Madonna? How does she manage still to inspire so much controversy?

Taxi and bus drivers in Sierra Leone are on strike, demanding the release of hundreds of drivers arrested on 'flimsy' traffic charges. Freetown is at standstill. Are you affected?
