The Jewel of the Nile DVD (1985)

Romantic fiction once again becomes incredible adventure for Kathleen Turner as she gets herself into another scrape, which requires her to be rescued by bounty hunter Michael Douglas. It is, of course, the sequel to "Romancing the Stone" and it's available on DVD along with that first film as part of a two-disc set.

Strangely enough, the DVD of the older "Romancing the Stone" offers better picture quality than the newer "Jewel of the Nile". It's by no means a disaster, but it's surprising to see how much grain creeps into some of the scenes.

The 2.0 surround mix offers consolation though in the form of a bass-strong rendition of the music score, and various 80s pop tunes from the likes of Billy Ocean (what a treat, eh?).

As for the extra features, the cupboard is bare apart from a solitary trailer. Still, it's a two-disc set for not a lot of money - and a lot of memories.
