'Bright future' in spite of bipolar disorder and alcoholism

Help

The mental health charity Mind Cymru has launched a series of short films made by people living with mental distress in Wales.

The participants scripted and edited the films themselves after learning the skills on a digital storytelling course.

One film was made by Anthony, from Carmarthen, who has struggled to overcome the problems of bipolar disorder and alcoholism.

He said: "I wish I'd seen these digital stories over 30 years ago when I was struggling in isolation to make sense of my un-diagnosed bipolar disorder.

"We must break down the stigma, prejudice and misunderstanding that still pervades our society and I hope that my story helps."

Lindsay Foyster, director of Mind Cymru, said: "Digital stories give people the chance to show their side of the story - what things are really like - and challenge damaging stereotypes."
