Shaun
Ryder - singer, songwriter and front man of The Happy Mondays and
Black Grape - hit rock bottom Down Under a year ago; his assets
frozen, locked in litigation, continuing drug problems - his family
in Australia feared for his life.
The
film-maker Richard Macer (The Real Swiss Toni, Jordan - The Truth
About Me) spends eight months with Shaun as he pieces his life back
together.
Out
of rehab he attempts to adopt a healthy lifestyle and wrestles with
the demands of fatherhood.
But
he's still on the brink of bankruptcy following a protracted legal
battle with his former manager.
Meanwhile
he relocates to Australia to promote his new album and rejoin his
family who have helped him through his darkest days. (DL)

the story of care leavers who have gone on to make their life a
success.
Michael
Groce was in and out of care as a child and was heading for a life
of crack and crime.
His
mother's shooting by the police was the catalyst for the Brixton
riots.
Now
a successful poet, there was one youth worker in particular who
helped him turn his life around.
Michael
and other care leavers talk about the defining moment that helped
change their life and the mentor figure that provided vital support

to escape the bleak pattern of their lives, rapping to beats made
on anything from Coke cans to computers.
Crime

shatter dreams too.

Dreams takes an honest look at modern inner city life, through the
stories of the young musicians trying to make better lives for themselves.
Some
are successful and find the fame and fortune, but for most it remains
a distant fantasy.
