Razzledazzle
Razzledazzle is a new literacy series from CBeebies where children
and presenters play games, enjoy poems, rhymes and rhythms, sing and
dance - and invite those at home to join in the fun.
Designed to help nurture and extend pre-school viewers' understanding
and appreciation of language, Razzledazzle will concentrate on speaking
and listening skills supporting the Foundation Curriculum's Communication,
Language and Literacy early learning goal.
With the help of a new animated character, Razzledazzle, the programmes
will encourage children to think, repeat and participate along with
the show and help them communicate thoughts, ideas and feelings.
Razzledazzle has been made in consultation with education advisor Sue
Palmer, who is well known to primary teachers throughout the UK as an
independent literacy specialist who has contributed to several National
Literacy Strategy training packages, and is the writer of many best-selling
books and educational television programmes on aspects of literacy as
well as children's poems, stories and non-fiction.
A Razzledazzle website will also accompany the series at bbc.co.uk/cbeebies,
aimed at helping three to five year olds to develop conversation skills
and encouraging them to delight in sounds and language.

Boogie Beebies
Boogie Beebies aims to get children off their seats and dancing along
to pop songs specially created for them.
By providing young viewers with specially commissioned song and dance
routines suitable for their development needs, CBeebies hopes to encourage
an interest in dance, healthy movement and singing - and also explore
some interesting and inspirational locations with them.
In each programme presenters Nataylia Roni and Pete
Hillier visit a location and use moves suggested by it to introduce
a song and dance routine.
The programme features children learning the moves and ends with the
Big Video, a pop video in which the children - including the viewers
- are the stars.
Boogie Beebies taps into the huge interest both boys and girls show
in learning pop routines, but the fun is not just restricted to the
children - parents, carers and siblings can all join in and start dancing
too.
In a new series for 2005 Pete goes off to the zoo to get funky with
the monkeys, Nat is down at the farm doing the Barnyard Boogie and viewers
meet some creepy-crawlies and learn the Bug-a-lug.

Big Cook Little Cook
Big Cook Little Cook is a cookery programme for a young audience presented
by the life-size Big Cook Ben and a Little Cook called Small who is
the size of a milk bottle.
It's a comical concoction of sugar and spice, fruit and veg, bread
and rice - an educational journey of discovery for young viewers.
Each show features a delicious innovative recipe, introducing viewers
to a range of ingredients and exploring shape and texture.
Children will long to try out the recipes at home and during the course
of each programme will learn more about the origins of the ingredients,
by accompanying Small on his Spoon Mobile journeys.
Little Cook's adventures in the Big World introduce children to different
foods and his interactions with Big Cook make cookery fun for youngsters.
Little Cook sits on an upturned coffee mug on Ben's kitchen table,
a great vantage point to watch all the cooking.
Unfortunately he sometimes ends up covered in a dusting of flour or
finds that Ben has dolloped a teaspoon of honey, just missing his head.
Big Cook Little Cook combines slapstick humour with an infectious enthusiasm
for creative cooking.
It's a feast of fun for the CBeebies audience, and many parents and
carers have been delighted when their children have requested new foods
and recipes following the programmes.
A new series will be broadcast later in 2005.

Tikkabilla
Anything and everything can - and does - happen in Tikkabilla, an eclectic
programme with all the things pre-school children love to see and do,
along with lots of surprises.
From songs, rhymes, surprise guests and exciting projects, to fun with
animals and visits to real places, Tikkabilla is a wonderful place which
opens up the world and sparks the imagination of children.
Drawing on the best pre-school traditions - music, songs, dancing,
rhymes and storytelling - it has a cast of six studio-based presenters
who lead the pre-school audience stepping-stone style through the programme,
as an element on one activity sparks a new idea and leads to the next
fascinating subject.
Presenters Justin, Sarah-Jane, Veejay,
Paul, Lorna and Simon
are accomplished performers who sing, dance, mime and make things.
They are also joined by their special puppet friend Tamba every weekday,
and together they provide young children with examples of good behaviour
to encourage their personal, social and emotional development.
