The acts competing in Making Your Mind Up

Eurovision – Making Your Mind Up 2007

(Hard Rock) Hallelujah – it's time for Making Your Mind Up!

The UK's hopes at Eurovision are in the hands of the public and the time is approaching to vote for the act that will represent the United Kingdom at the 52nd annual Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki, Finland.

Ìý

The Ö÷²¥´óÐã today revealed the six acts competing in Eurovision – Making Your Mind Up.

Ìý

They are:

Ìý

Big Brovaz

Ìý

Cyndi

Ìý

Brian Harvey

Ìý

Justin Hawkins and Beverlei Brown (Hawkins & Brown)

Ìý

Liz McClarnon

Ìý

Scooch

Ìý

Chart-topping R&B hip hop group Big Brovaz, who have made a return to the UK music scene as a four-piece, will perform Big Bro Thang.

Ìý

New to the UK music scene, songstress Cyndi, will sing I'll Leave My Heart.

Ìý

Former member of the hugely successful Nineties pop band East 17, Brian Harvey, will perform I Can.

Ìý

Justin Hawkins, former frontman and guitarist from The Darkness, takes to the stage with diva Beverlei Brown as duo Hawkins & Brown to perform They Don't Make 'Em Like They Used To.

Ìý

After huge musical success across the UK and Europe, Atomic Kitten Liz McClarnon sings (Don't It Make You) Happy.

Ìý

And, reforming especially for Eurovision – Making Your Mind Up, all-singing, all-dancing pop quartet, Scooch – consisting of Caroline Barnes, David Ducasse, Natalie Powers and Russ Spencer – perform Flying The Flag (For You).

Ìý

With a huge number of hits between them, it's up to the public to choose which act will take the UK to the top in Helsinki.

Ìý

The huge annual event has a record number of 42 countries competing and, after Daz Sampson finished in 19th place last year with Teenage Life, the pressure is on once again.

Ìý

Unexpectedly, monster rockers Lordi stormed to victory in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest, scoring a huge 292 points with the song Hard Rock Hallelujah.

Ìý

So, it's anyone's guess who will make it to the top this year.

Ìý

In a UK exclusive, Lordi will be performing on Eurovision – Making Your Mind Up in March. It will be their only television performance before their appearance at Eurovision in Helsinki.

Ìý

Eurovision – Making Your Mind up will be hosted once again by Eurovision veteran Sir Terry Wogan, and, this year, he will be joined by Fearne Cotton.

Ìý

Terry says: "This year hope springs eternal. Who knows? This could be the year that the UK makes it into the top 10. It's about time!"

Ìý

Fearne is no stranger to Eurovision – Making Your Mind Up, having served as a judge on last year's show.

Ìý

She says: "I'm delighted to be returning to Eurovision – Making Your Mind Up as a co-host with my pal, Terry, this year.

Ìý

"I can't wait to see what tricks the acts have up their sleeves this time. Can anyone top DJ Daz's troupe of school girls?

Ìý

"It's an eclectic mix again this year so it will be anyone's guess who the public will vote for."

Ìý

Terry and Fearne will be joined in the studio by a panel of experts who will cast their judgement over the acts but the ultimate decision about who will be packing up their parka for Helsinki will be the public's.

Ìý

Viewers can vote for their favourite act by phone or text with all the profits from the votes going to Ö÷²¥´óÐã Children In Need.

Ìý

The winner will be revealed in a second show later in the evening.

Ìý

The Ö÷²¥´óÐã Eurovision website – bbc.co.uk/eurovision – contains all the latest news and gossip on the show as well as previews of the artists' tracks.

Ìý

This year Eurovision – Making Your Mind Up will be filmed at the Maidstone Studios in Kent with the whole show having a brand-new look and feel.

Ìý

Eurovision – Making Your Mind Up goes out on Ö÷²¥´óÐã One in March 2007.

Ìý

The Eurovision Song Contest Semi-Final transmits on Ö÷²¥´óÐã Three on Thursday 10 May.

Ìý

The Eurovision Song Contest Final transmits on Ö÷²¥´óÐã One on Saturday 12 May 2007.
