The Visit

Cast and character biographies

Iain Mckee plays Michael

Ìý

Michael is the only one of the cast who shouldn't be inside. He thought he was driving his mates to the shops, but ended up being the getaway driver.

Ìý

Steadfast and loyal he refuses to be a grass, especially when one of the culprits is a bit too close to home.

Ìý

Last year, Iain McKee starred in the hugely successful Ö÷²¥´óÐã One series Lilies, as well as Housewife 49, The Unknown Stuntman, New Street Law, Legless and The Somme.

Ìý

He has six film credits to his name, most notably The Bunker and The Parole Officer, and has also featured on the Ö÷²¥´óÐã Asian Network's daily soap, Silver Street. On Stage, Iain has performed in Almost Blue, Under The Whaleback, Masterclass and is due to start at the RSC in September.

Ìý

John Henshaw plays Michael's dad

Ìý

Michael's dad is more of a victim than anyone. A taxi driver, he drives to the prison with a car full of women and his idiot son and delinquent Nana, and drives 50 miles each week to spend an hour with his son, Michael, whom he promptly tells all his problems to.

Ìý

A bit of a dodgy geezer, he likes to duck and dive but is a solid family man with an obsession about speed humps.

Ìý

A veteran in the television industry, John Henshaw's TV credits include The Royle Family, Early Doors, The Cops, City Central, Linda Green, The Second Coming, and, more recently, A Very Private Secretary.

Ìý

John has enjoyed a successful career on the big screen and on stage, too. Films credits include Happy Now, You, Me And The Dead, The Parole Officer and There's Only One Jimmy Grimble.

Ìý

Craig Fitzpatrick plays Michael's brother Stevie

Ìý

Stevie is a typical young, weed-smoking lad who doesn't care about anything. He has no sense or emotions, and is not very bright.

Ìý

A self-confessed ladies' man that has dodgy taste in women, Stevie in turn both winds up his dad and brother but also brings out their protective instinct.

Ìý

Craig Fitzpatrick began his acting career in 2001 in an episode of Mersey Beat. He has since appeared in Waterloo Road, Holby City, Terminal, Twisted Tales and Outlaws.

Ìý

Beatrice Kelly plays Michael's Nana

Ìý

Nana is determined that Michael's soul needs saving. On first-name terms with all the Catholic priests for miles around, she insists on sending Michael every religious icon ever created and thinks that all his problems will be solved with a little chat from Father Kane.

Ìý

Beatrice Kelly is a well-established actress who has appeared in Respectable, Ö÷²¥´óÐã Three comedy Ideal, Johnny And The Bomb, My Parents Are Aliens, Here For Me, Eyes Down B, Heartbeat and Where The Heart is. She also appeared in the John Smiths famous "No Nonsense" advertisements.

Ìý

Steve Edge plays Clint

Ìý

Gambling addict Clint is determined to be the hard man of the prison but is seriously lacking in terms of street cred. He loves his long-suffering wife, Bev, but is jealous about her reliance on his albino friend, Carl.

Ìý

He welcomes Bev's weekly visit with his baby twins, but is worried by his older son's refusal to visit the prison.

Ìý

Steve Edge burst onto the television scene in 1999, starring alongside Peter Kay in That Peter Kay Thing. He then went on to appear in The Ö÷²¥´óÐã New Stand Up Awards; Phoenix Nights; Cold Feet; No Angels; Family Business; Spine Chillers; Peep Show; Max And Paddy; Christmas Lights; The Street; Morsomme Foursome; Mike Basett – England Manager; Star Stories; New Street Law; Magicians; I'm With Stupid and Star Stories.

Ìý

Naomi Radcliffe plays Bev

Ìý

Clint's long suffering wife, Bev, loyally visits her husband each week but gets frustrated with his big man act. However, she knows just how to bring him down. Rational and calm, she struggles to make ends meet while her husband is inside and spends most of her time visiting crèches campaigning for better facilities.

Ìý

Naomi Radcliffe has a wealth of experience in television, stage, radio and film. Her 10-year television career has seen her display her acting skills on New Street Law; The Royal; Born And Bred; Nice Guy Eddie; A Good Thief; Coronation Street; Queer As folk; Cold Feet; Sunburn and The Grand.

Ìý

Angel Coulby plays Rachael

Ìý

Rachael's quick wit and sarcastic ways go down well with the inmates at the prison. She is good at her job, and is quick to put the other prison guards in their place. She also makes it clear that the job is by no means her primary career choice.

Ìý

Angel Coulby has an extensive CV including many television, stage and film credits. She has appeared in Blue Murder – Crisis Management; Is this Love?; Vincent; Doll Hospital; Fear, Stress And Anger; Fire Station; New Street Law; Secret Life; The Bill; Tripping Over; Orrible; As If and Big Night Out.

Ìý

She has appeared on stage in Lavender Blue, The Hypochondriac and The Importance Of Being Ernest, whilst appearances on the big screen include Magicians, Imagine Me And You, Royston Vasey and The Jacket.

Ìý

Darren Tighe plays Officer Mark Bamford

Ìý

Officer Bamford often comes across as a bit of a control freak with the prisoners, and his actions usually come back to bite him from behind. He is an expert at making life at work harder than it should be and is prone to ridiculous errors, often becoming the butt of the joke with both his colleagues and the prisoners.

Ìý

Darren Tighe recently starred in Goldplated; Thieves Like Us; Vincent; Crime And Punishment; I Saw You; The Back Room; The Forest; All The Kings Men; Coming Down; Chimps and Mojo. He also had a part in the hugely successful 24 Hour Party People.

Ìý

Ìý

Russell is the most laid-back of all the prison officers. He breezes through his working day thinking about the amount of time he has left on his shift, and, most importantly, chocolate.

Ìý

Ìý

Vincent Davies plays Pete

Ìý

Pete, or "Blind Pete" as he has become known within the prison, is as clever and on the ball as any other prisoner. He also cleverly uses his disability to his advantage. However, the other prisoners have a sneaking suspicion that all is not what it seems when it comes to Pete and his conniving ways.

Ìý

Vincent Davies's television credits include the forthcoming Ö÷²¥´óÐã One drama, True Dare Kiss. He has also appeared in The Chase; Waterloo Road; Shameless; The Visit; New Street Law; Drop Dead Gorgeous; Northern Lights; Vincent and Conviction.

Ìý

Stephen Martin Walters plays Splodge

Ìý

Splodge is the prison's token bully boy – most of the prison is scared of him – and he knows all too well that he can get what he wants, when he wants. He spends most of his visiting time waiting for his unpunctual girlfriend, Zoe, and harassing the other visitors. However, his softer side shows him to be a loving father and boyfriend.

Ìý

Stephen Martin Walters has an extensive film and television CV, having had roles in Young Hannibal; The Intimidation Game; Revolver; Batman; Layer Cake; Mean Machine; 51st State; Liam; Mike Bassett – England Manager; Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Plunkett & McCleane.
