Hunter, a new two-part drama from Ö÷²¥´óÐã Drama Production for Ö÷²¥´óÐã One

Jonathan Slinger – DC Miles

Jonathan Slinger who plays the team technical expert DC Miles was immediately impressed when he read the scripts for Hunter.

Ìý

"You usually have to hunt around a bit to find your character's personality, but with Mick's script you get a sense very quickly of real people, characters with depth and apparently contradictory qualities. It's just human nature but he captured it perfectly."

Ìý

DC Miles' value to Barclay and the team lies mainly in his IT skills, which are called upon extensively in a case where the clock is ticking.

Ìý

"Miles is quite nerdy, a bit of a computer boffin. In many ways he's right on the front line – he's constantly fielding calls from people, trying to find new information as quickly as possible. So if for some reason it's taking a bit longer, then it's Miles who tends to get the sharp end of Barclay's tongue."

Ìý

But that is just a facet of their working relationship, and Jonathan continues: "He's doubly keen to do the job as well and as quickly as possible because he has huge respect for Barclay both as a man and as a policeman."

Ìý

As far as the rest of the team goes, perhaps it's Connor and Miles who have worked together longer than most.

Ìý

Jonathan explains: "There's lot of affection between them, but at the same time they've gone beyond any stage of being polite to each other. It's an honest, fraternal relationship, and for that they can get on each other's nerves sometimes!"

Ìý

The hardest thing about playing a technological genius was the computers.

Ìý

Jonathan explains: "I'm clueless! I can find my way around the basics, but Miles is a prodigy – it would take me forever to get anywhere near that kind of level."

Ìý

Policing isn't a job that Jonathan would do in real life but there are some surprising similarities.

Ìý

"I can understand a kind of certain excitement that goes with it – the adrenaline must be massive. So I suppose from that point of view our jobs are quite similar, but what I do is complete fantasy; there's no way that I could actually live with the kinds of thing these people have to deal with.

Ìý

"I feel very fortunate that there are people out there who are willing to do it so that I don't have to."
