Big Top: John Stround, co-producer

L-R: Amanda Holden as Lizzie, Patrick Baladi as Andy, John Thomson as Geoff

Co-Producer John Stroud began his career at Thames Television as a trainee director and, on completion of his course, stayed with them to work on a wide variety of programmes, including drama, live transmissions, comedy and documentaries.

On leaving Thames, his freelance career began with the first three series of the Channel 4 comedy Who Dares Wins, the second series of Spitting Image for Central, and four seasons of the award-winning That's Love, an adult comedy for TVS.

Four of his series have been nominated for British Academy (BAFTA) Awards and two nominated for British Comedy Awards.

Since then John's work has ranged across many genres; from the action-adventure of Bugs to sketch shows such as the first Harry Enfield & Chums, from sharp-edged sitcoms like Game On to the comedy-dramas Boon and Minder (he directed the last episode to be made).

John has also co-produced and directed 51 episodes of My Hero for Big Bear Films. The primetime sitcom, starring Ardal O'Hanlon and Emily Joyce, ran for six series for Ö÷²¥´óÐã One.

He also directed the original series of Kiss Me Kate and Chambers for Ö÷²¥´óÐã One, Believe Nothing with Rik Mayall for ITV, and the single-camera comedy drama Breeze Block with Tim Healy for the former Ö÷²¥´óÐã Choice.

On the factual front, he delivered the 12-part documentary series The Hairy Bikers' Cookbook for Ö÷²¥´óÐã Two (a co-production with Vixpix Films Ltd) as well as The Hairy Bikers Ride Again.
