In the build up to the World Cup, five wives and girlfriends of top English footballers leave behind their privileged world and undertake a life changing journey to gain an understanding of the reality of daily life in South Africa.

Chantelle Tagoe (Emille Heskey's partner), Ellie Darby (Matthew Upson's partner), Elen Rivas (Frank Lampard's ex-partner) and Amii Grove and Imogen Thomas, the former girlfriends of Jermaine Pennant and Jermaine Defoe respectively, are faced with the stark reality of the orphan crisis, HIV pandemic and social breakdown that engulfs the country.

As they roll up their sleeves to help on several outreach projects, the Wags experience the harsh realities of life in a children's home in the infamous Khayelitsha township, near Cape Town. They then move to Johannesburg’s notorious Hillbrow district, where they work with experts trying to save street children from pimps, sex traffickers and gangs. Their journey ends in rural White River, near the Kruger National Park, where they join other volunteers in the fight to stem the flow of HIV infection.

Ö÷²¥´óÐã Three presents a ground-breaking season of documentaries about young people with autism

What is it like to grow up living with autism? This season of warm and insightful films for Ö÷²¥´óÐã Three explores the abilities and strengths of these young people as well as the challenges they face.

Two years ago, James Hobley couldn’t read or write, and then he discovered disco dancing and his world changed. Now, 10-year-old James could soon be eligible for mainstream school and hopes to win the World Disco Dancing Championships. Disco Kid follows his incredible story.

Autism School follows the experiences of teenagers studying and living together at a specialist boarding school, while The Autistic Driving School follows young autistic people facing the challenging rite of passage that is learning to drive.

The season also includes a follow up to last year’s acclaimed documentary The Autistic Me. It follows the fortunes of three young people with autism, and their families, as they continue their difficult journey to adulthood.

Jail Tales

Jail Tales explores the experience of people in prison, from young British offenders to well-known US rappers, mums and lifers.

This ambitious multiplatform project will be fronted by Ashley Walters, who knows first hand what it's like to be young and in prison but has turned his life around to forge a successful acting career.

The actor and rapper recently appeared in the Ö÷²¥´óÐã One drama Small Island but in 2002, while part of chart-topping group So Solid Crew, he was sentenced to seven months in Feltham Young Offenders Institute.

Jail Tales will have a strong presence on the Ö÷²¥´óÐã Three website and Ashley will also present a Radio 1 documentary and a downloadable podcast. The website will link to exclusive web videos on YouTube, gritty photo essays on Flickr and blog posts on Twitter.

The range of content will explore how time inside affects people and the impact it has on their lives and those of their families.

Last Woman Standing

Five female athletes from the UK travel across the globe, live with tribes in remote places, and take on local women in some extremely difficult and indigenous sports – all wanting to be the Last Woman Standing.

How will they cope when they take on local women at sports they’ve been practising since they were children? How will they handle the rituals, the rites of passage and the harsh conditions and the reality of the ultimate life-changing experience?

From Huka Huka Wrestling in Brazil to Bamboo Raft Racing in the Philippines, from Water Buffalo Racing in Indonesia to Tarahumara Mountain Endurance racing in Mexico, all five women are setting out with one aim – to return with their pride and bodies intact.

Over the course of their journey the athletes will be tested physically and emotionally, but by the end of the series only one of the competitors will have the honour of being crowned the Last Woman Standing.
