Bang Goes The Theory

Ö÷²¥´óÐã One

If you've ever wondered about the science that makes the world go round (and aren't afraid of getting your hands dirty along the way) Bang Goes The Theory is the show for you.

Join Dallas Campbell, Liz Bonnin, Jem Stansfield and Dr Yan Wong as they travel the world, exploring the most exciting science out there. From dark matter and missing bits of the universe to microwave-powered helicopters – they've got it covered.

But this isn't just a show tied up with theories and principles. Bang Goes The Theory dynamites the foundations of science with an eye-popping range of experiments, from the homemade to the grandiose, all conducted from the high-tech Bang HQ, housed within a disused wind tunnel in Bedfordshire.

Back at home, viewers also get to roll up their sleeves and put science to the test with a range of easy and fun experiments expertly supported by the Bang Goes The Theory website. It's also where resident boffin Dr Yan Wong is on hand to answer the viewers' questions.

And, on top of all that, the Bang Goes The Theory roadshow gives fans nationwide an opportunity to meet the presenters, try out experiments and take part in a variety of daring science stunts. You can download experiments to try at home, find out more about the Bang Goes The Theory team, or ask Dr Yan a question that you've always wanted answered at bbc.co.uk/bang.

So You Want To Be A Scientist?

Ö÷²¥´óÐã Radio 4

So You Want To Be A Scientist? will give members of the public the unique opportunity to devise and carry out experiments alongside scientists and give their research the chance of being published in a science journal.

Throughout 2010, Material World, Radio 4's flagship science programme, is looking for original ideas that people can investigate from their kitchen, shed or local park. From the submitted ideas, chosen finalists will experience first-hand what it's like to be a scientist, by turning their idea into a genuine experiment. They'll be helped by the country's top researchers, and the successful finalist will get the chance to have their work submitted to a respected science journal for publication.

The talent search runs throughout 2010. For more information, visit bbc.co.uk/radio4/scientist.
