Match Of The Day

New Year's Day Saturday 1 January
10.30-11.50pm Ö÷²¥´óÐã ONE

Gary Lineker presents highlights of today's Premier League games, including Manchester United's trip to play West Brom. The Baggies pulled off a shock earlier in the season when they managed a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford, but the Red Devils have a formidable recent record at the Hawthorns, scoring 13 goals in their last four visits to the ground.

Elsewhere, Manchester City take on Blackpool at home for the first time since the two clubs clashed in the third tier of English football back in 1998.

Arsenal have failed to win on their last two trips to St Andrew's to face Birmingham, a record they will be looking to end if they are going to sustain a title challenge. Meanwhile, Sunderland meet Blackburn, Stoke play Everton, Liverpool take on Bolton and Tottenham host London rivals Fulham.

New Year's Day Concert From Vienna

Live event/outside broadcast
New Year's Day Saturday 1 January
11.15am-12.50pm Ö÷²¥´óÐã TWO

In a concert presented by Petroc Trelawny, Franz Welser-Most follows in the footsteps of his great compatriots Clemens Krauss, Josef Krips, Willi Boskovsky, Herbert von Karajan and Nikolaus Harnoncourt, as he becomes the sixth Austrian conductor to lead the annual New Year's Day concert given by the Vienna Philharmonic.

There is music by four members of the Strauss family, as well as a couple of pieces by Viennese contemporaries Lanner and Hellmesberger.

To start a year of celebrations for the bicentenary of Liszt's birth, the Vienna Philharmonic plays Johan Strauss I's (the father of the more famous Johan II) Galopp on themes by Liszt, followed by Liszt's own Mephisto Waltz No. 1.

The New Year's Day Concert From Vienna can be heard live in its entirety on Ö÷²¥´óÐã Radio 3 from 10.15am to 1.00pm.
